I have been driving myself goofy looking for a set of mirrors that will extend out to 21". I dont want to drill a bunch of holes in the doors either. My fiver is 102" wide and the slip-ons will just barelly let me see the side of the rig. Really appreciate any advice anyone can give on this matter.

You didn't provide much information so I don't know what year your truck is or what mirrors you have. I'll make a couple of assumptions... ... .

You have a 2ndGen Ram equipped with the standard mirrors.

They are not cheap but the 2001 and later foldout towing mirrors work great. My truck is equipped with them. You might try the TDR classifieds to see if anyone has a set of takeoffs for sale. If not, you might try a couple of the Dodge dealers with an internet parts outlet. Tennafly in NJ and mopar4less are a couple of possibles. There are others who will sell for less than suggested retail.

Look at "Powervision" mirrors. They are power in all directions and also power extend, push the button and out they go. Every one I have talked to that has them love them including me

Drive no further! Check out McKesh Mirrors . Best after market mirrors (that you can remove) out there. I ran them for 5 years on my 98 with no scratches on the truck. My 02 has the flip out mirrors, but I will keep my McKesh's, No telling what my next truck will have for mirrors.

They will adjust out far enough for your 102" camper. In fact I think they will go wide enough you can't fit through the toll booths! I see there around $40. 00 cheeper now then when I bought them.

I added round mirrors from Pepboys, but they rusted, not sure if the McKesh round ones are SS or not.

Love my Powervisions. :D They have the same electrically adjustable and heat functions as my stock non-towing mirrors and are electrically extendable and retractable in addition.

I'd love to have the luxtury of having adjustable power towing mirrors, but can't justify the expense. I have a set of McKesh mirrors. Bought them used for $80. They work just great and should last a long long time. Easy on and off.

Mirrors

Thanks guys for your rapid response. I looked at the Powervisisn and they a re a bit spendy. Do they extend out to 21"? I've seen the McKesh Mirrors and like the ease of install mand uninstall. The only thing that I did'nt like was the way that they pushed the rubber down where it mounts on the top. Do they damage the rubber seal?

I have a 96 2500 converted to a one ton. Duallys and all.

Thanks for all your info!:)

I have the McKesh mirrors also and the rubber wasnt a problem. They vibrated enough that it was hard to see what was behind you but you could see there was something. It wasnt a bad vibration just annoying.

Mirrors

If you have a chance to get a set of 2001 and up towing mirrors I would grab them. On my 2001 2500 with standard mirrors I tried slip on mirrors which were small and vibrated. I then went to McKesh strap on mirrors and while they are an improvement they still vibrate and I felt they would eventially damage the paint

and /or metal on the doors. I then broke down for the PowerVision mirrors and they are very good but costly. I now have a 3500 2003 with factory towing mirrors and they are a great improvement over any of the others. The visibility is excellent and you are sure to like them.

Wonder if it was your mounting location, or where you ran the bottom levers? Mine never had a vibration problem with mine.

One of mine did come with the strap routed wrong, I could not get the window to roll up without the mirror falling off. Took a couple minutes to figure that one out :)

I ran into a guy in the outer banks that had them. I was talking to him and he mentioned "the only pain is you can't roll the windows all the way down or the mirrors will get stuck on top of the glass when you roll them back up. I went over and looked, both of his straps were on wrong!

jbrowne,

i have a 97 that had the basic non elect, non heated mirrors. i installed the powervision elect controlled mirrors. don't remember the actual length of them extended, but i think its in the neighborhood of 21". they work great. they are aerodynamic, i get very good visibility towing my 27 footer with no vibration to speak of. they took about a half day to install. the worst part was routing the wiring.

I have a set that I used prior to putting on the Cipa tow mirrors, they worked great. I'll sell them for $75. 00 plus shipping
