I really like the new mirrors on the 2010s. The problem I have with the current mirrors is I cannot see the bottom of the rear tire, which would be nice when going around corners to check curb clearance or when backing into a parking spot. (Of course BMW tilts their mirrors down automatically in reverse, but that's too much to ask of a truck I guess ... . )

Is there any kind of larger stick-on mirror that would solve this problem? I'm not sure if the new mirrors can be retrofitted to my truck, but it would probably cost a fortune if they did.

Buy a chevy... .

Be nice man he is asking a legitimate question. We don't need to insult people telling them to buy another brand truck.

Me too like the mirrors of the 2010 trucks. I saw them at May Madness last week. From looking at it it looks like it will fit if the mounting holes are the same. The 2010 has a larger concave mirror to see the rear tires, an LED light that automatically light up the door area when the doors are opened.

Wow, you're right, those are NICE looking mirrors, and bigger then the OEM on my 2005... that would be a sweet upgrade if they will bolt right on to a 3rd gen!!! Of course, the wiring will have to fit too!! Is that a turn signal, or simply a courtesy light on the mirror??? I would think either would not be that hard to wire in extra , though it might mean that the plug is differnt. Definitely worth trying to get more info from a good dealership...

Thanks guys. I think that's a turn signal, and that would be a nice safety feature, although that may be more difficult to wire in. The overall package looked the same, but I'll have to verify if it'll bolt on. But when I checked many years ago a set of mirrors was 3 or 4 hundred. Dodge's parts web site is missing lots of stuff and doesn't currently give the prices for them. But they do have replacement glass for really cheap; I wonder if it would be possible to just replace the glass with the new setup with the full-width adjustable convex mirror. I would be surprised if my dealer knows but I'll give them a call.

When I'm backing and need the precision afforded by looking down at the tire I just adjust the mirror to point that way. This has the added benefit of giving the mechanism a little workout to keep it running free.

Just a suggestion, while we wait to see whether the 2010 mirrors will bolt on.

Well I went by a dealer lot this afternoon to to take a closer look at the mirrors. They measure 7. 5" x 11. 5", versus 3rd gens that are 7. 5" x 11". The convex part IS much bigger. And they have the integeral turn signal/courtesy light. I did not have time to check with the parts dept on fitment, but a cursory examination looked like they would bolt right up, with only the wiring being different. Still need more info.

Probably it's nothing I'll rush into, BUT if I ever need to replace a mirror, I'll definitely consider this as an option,. THANKS for the idea.

Thanks for checking. I'll probably be down there in a week or two and I'll see what I can find out then as well. It would be ideal if they had both the old and the new in stock in parts to compare.

Sorry but I would like to see the outcome of the research. I drove a 2010 this week and really liked the mirrors... ... . and would love to have them on my truck!!! Oh yeah the 2010 truck was very, very sweetl!!!!

I went by the dealer today and talked with their resident accessories expert, who generally seems to know what he's talking about. He said there is no way to retrofit the '10 mirrors onto earlier models. He said the mount is different. I didn't have a chance to verify it personally though; you'd have to look at the two parts side by side. He said you couldn't change just the glass either, which doesn't surprise me.

He also showed me that the mirrors do indeed automatically tilt downward in reverse!
