Ok my truck is stock, no fueling boxes, injectors nothing. I am getting an intermittent miss at idle. Like it does a quick stumble then idles fine then another one. Then the problem may go away for a week or more than comes back. Seems it does not matter if the engine is cold or warm. I have also noticed that if I turn of the engine then restart it the miss goes away????

Could be the camshaft position sensor?

How about the electric connections to the sensor?

Seems like these would set a code, though.

Another check is the throttle position sensor, and it's connections.

These fly-by-wire engines can be a pain to troubleshoot.

Well here are the so-called results from my dealer. Took the truck in and had it checked out, no codes showed up so of coarse there is no problem right. The dealer also called STAR and was told, “We have never heard of this before so it looks like the customer is on his own. ” I went to the service manager with no luck then called DC. They called the dealership and talked to the tech. He told them that a hard miss like this is normal. Of coarse it has not done this up until now, the truck has 40k on it. So DC told me to call Cummins.

Sounds like the Camshaft Position Sensor, my truck did the same thing. It would idle fine and then take a stumble. I had to look behind me because I thought someone had bumped into me. Check engine light finally starting coming on and the tach started going crazy. I replaced my crankshaft position sensor and solved the problem.
