I ran out to get a cup of coffee this morning, truck was 1/2 way warm.

On the way back, I noticed that at idle, it had a miss.

Came back to the office, did a search w/ no luck...

There were no odd noises coming from the motor, but you could definitely hear a miss in the exhaust. On throttle, it seems the truck runs fine. Then the problem disappeared. I checked for codes... . Nothing. It has a 1/2 full tank of fuel, and has received a bottle of Stanadyne for every tank in the truck since new.

Any suggestions? I just got back from a 700+ mile trip this weekend and the truck ran great.

Can you be sure it's not just the A/C compressor cycling? Sometimes when mine kicks on the whole truck will shake and it feels like the engine stumbled

Can you describe the "miss"? What does it sound like?

Well, the a/c and defrost were off, so it wasn't the compressor.

Through the exhaust, I heard pft-pft-pft-pft-pft-pft in time with the engine instead of a smooth purr as usual.

It sounded just like a gasser when you pull a spark plug wire. Revving it would sound normal, but when it settled to idle it missed. It hasn't happened any more today.

Kind of weird, I think. If an injector was bad, it should make noise or continue to miss, right?

Mine did the same thing after a restart without a full warm up. The miss went away after a couple of miles of driving. Was the computer confused??? It has never happened again - it's been about 2 months ago. 18800 miles now showing.

Does Stanadyne qualify as a cleaner, or should I run something else?

I think so. Certainly nothing wrong with trying it.

Give it a little time and see if it comes back. [Of course, now you'll be paranoid about it so you'll think it's makes all sorts of weird noises it never made before].
