I had a 1st gen Ram and now a second gen, and have been thinking about the looks of the 3rd gen trucks. "Miss Piggy" is all that comes to mind. SNOKING

I didn't like them either, thats why I ran out and got the 02.

I would like a 1st gen truck with the creature comforts of the current truck.

Can you believe dodge is trying to pass a big quad cab off as a Crew cab? They could have really captured a big market. I hope Heads are rolling. A salesman told me the big crew cabs are too hard to park in parking lot so the want to keep the truck as short as possible.

I guess you know my feelings now. And I not in the market for a crew cab!!!

Actually..

Appearance is a personal preference, but if you want a truck that looks like everyone elses, then don't buy a Dodge. I personally think that the '03 is bold, assertive and very aerodynamic. Look down the sides and try to find a better quality stamping from anyone. Look at the brakes: biggest in class. Read the news: J. D. Power survey lists the '02 Dodge 1500 as least problems in the first 90 days of ownership. That's better than all other brands, including rice burners. As for being a crew cab: Dodge is NOT marketing the truck as a crew cab. It is the EXTENDED cab. Have you actually sat in one? Not a whole lot of difference from the "other" "crew" cabs.

I like refined masculine trucks, not chromed up pretenders.

Ron

bla, bla, bla, the '03's have a minivan lookin' interior to 'em. Yuk! Definatly designed around a woman, and all that parkin' stuff, good greif, it's a TRUCK, it's supposed to be BIG. If you wana park, buy somthin' smaller, like a car. Yuk, again!

I actually like the looks of the new body style. :) The front end looks great. Not overally excited about the dash. I hope the white gauges are an option. They don't look to bad with a light interior, but stand out like a sore thumb with a dark interior. I really like the single axle 1 ton option too.

I wish they had that option on the 02's... That's the reason I only have the 3/4 ton... :( ... and I don't like the new look at all - it's supposed to be a truck, not a fashion statement  Next thing you know, they'll find a way to make the CTD sound like a gasser as well. Yuk is right...

Just my opinion... :D

yes they look different, yes they are designed to be quieter, yes they look like an edsel from the front, yes they have more power and better amenities, wait a minute, i was talking about our 95's..... we'll all learn to love this new truck, just like we have before:cool:

Mis piggy is right. Ford taillights, Chev hood - fender fit w/ closed. All the uniqueness is gone. The guages look like some thing on a kids toy. Stock up on the 02's before they vare all gone!

RAMTHIS,

I have to agree with your comment the dashboard resembles something out of a minivan. Very flat and unappealing. I was at a truck show last year talking to a Dodge salesman about the new RAM. He pointed out that when the back seats are folded there is a great option of grocery bag hooks on the underside of the seat. :--) Did I mention that I was at a TRUCK show and not a grocery getter show!!!:D :D I told the salesman that if I wanted a grocery getter I would buy a car. I buy a truck to use it as a truck. With that he turned to the next unsuspecting person. Sorry just had to vent a little.

I'll agree with this statement with one caveat. I bought my truck as my daily driver. I wanted the versatility, payload, and longevity of a diesel powered truck, and I had owned two Dodge trucks previously that gave me excellent service.

But, when I do have occasion to go grocery shopping (I admit, I go when I get tired of eating at McDon*ld's), I like being able to put them in the cab when the bed is full of miscellaneous items that I've accumulated over the day. It's not manly to go grocery shopping, I admit (actually, some of the chicks there are kinda hot), but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I see your point, and it woudln't have sold me on the truck or the salesperson either, but it is cool that they are engineering the truck to be a more all-around vehicle as opposed to a workhorse-only. Can you say "market share?" I knew ya could... .

c'mon guys........

take a real good look at it..... it don't look like a chebby or a phurd.

it looks like a freaking DAKOTA!!!!!... .

yup, that's right, sit them side by side and its nothing more than a big DAKOTA:eek: :{ :eek: :{ :eek: :{

It took me all of 10 minutes to decide I like the styling of the 2nd gen. (I had a 1st gen at the time). It took me no time to say "what an ugly pick-up" with the 3rd gen. My neighbor has one,a 1500 ext. cab, it has about an inch more knee room in the back seat than mine. Oh, my neighbor is a woman.

So who is going to do the first conversion... 03 body with a 98 12v motor??

I think the 03 Sports look great... the 03 regular trucks look dredfull. All that fake chrome and plastic... ugly.

When the 2nd generation Rams came out my first thought was WOW, what a cool truck:cool: ! It didn't even take me ten minutes.

Trying to decide if I like the 3rd generation is like deciding between puffed rice and melba toast for breakfast:eek: . Who cares!

I'm going to stand up and take deep breaths as I say this out loud, "I think I like the looks of a Ford better than the new Dodge":--)
