My son has been looking for a first gen to pick up locally without going all the way back east. One was in the paper this morning. Called and one other person was already going to look at it before I could get there. (was about 1 hour away)

Was a 93 W250, Cummins, auto, ext cab LE, Pump tweaked, K&N, Banks quick turbo, Banks intercooler, Banks exhaust, 120,000 miles. Said the body was good, paint good, interior good. Was the original owner, has too many kids and bought a full size SUV to tow his trailer. Spent about $4000 on it about a year ago having the front bearings replaced, new brakes all the way around, rear end bearings replaced and any leaking seals fixed, new tires put on. Had Pyro, transmission temp. and tach gauges. Also had the heavy duty under bed transmission cooler.

Told the guy I would take it sight unseen but I couldn't get there right away, he said money talks. first with the cash gets the truck.

The first guy there bought it for $7500:( :{ Called the boy and told him I missed it. Well, just have to keep watching.

If you've got the patience, there'll be plenty of others but you just might want to consider expanding your 'search' area. Autotrader.com & Cars.com are 2 of my favorite used car search websites & both allow a search within a certain mileage radius -- 300 & 500 miles max (as well as nationally), respectively.

Just did a search on Autotrader using the 95448 zip, diesel, '91-'93 & a 300 mile search radius & found 5 trux, one of which may have been the one you just missed out on bc of "Distance: 73 miles".

FWIW, the last 3 vehicles I've bought have come from eBayMotors, Autotrader & Cars, respectively. And all 3 were out of state purchases. I don't mind traveling if the price is right.

Good luck.

Thanks for the tip Onlycummins. That might be the truck but the distance is a little far. I'll try to get a look and see what it is. Sure did sound like a good truck, told the son that next time I would just do it and not try to get him first.

Pay teh extra and don't go out east....

Sorry guys - but I grew up in North Central Pa and when I moved to the Pacific Northwest I couldn't get over how all the old cars looked new in comparrison to the rust buckets I had been use to. Unless things have changed - pay the bigger $$$ as the rust is always there - just waiting to get you. That's unless they no longer salt the roads - which I'm not sure is the case... .

Try recycler.com it used to have more than i've seen recently but its got some deals occasionaly its southern california based and most of the stuff is just outside L. A.

If you like roadtrips try autotrader.com like someone previosely mentioned and look in texas and oklahoma seems to be alot of them there

I have seen alot of first gens for sale in my neck of the woods in the buy and sell, about 50% of them are going for less then I would have thought. www.buysell.com , it might be a bit of a haul but it could pay off.

Thnx for the buysell.com link.

Just did a search on '91-'93 diesel & cummins & was quite flabbergasted at some of the asking prices! If you think those prices are low you really ought to try south of the border! Even with the $1 CAD = $0. 716615 exchange rate, I think there are better deals to be had here in the States.
