Misses when I turn a/c on

Has anyone had a similar experience. As the weather begins to warm up here I am getting a miss or hesitation when I turn on the A/C. It doesn't do it all the time and is hard to predict. It usually just stutters a bit but yesterday I drove it about a block before turning on the A/C. I was stopped at an intersetion waiting to make a turn an the truck actually surged when it came on. 98. 5 ISB
