Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Missing DV washer?

I was messing around with the timing today and when I removed the #1 DV I couldn't find the sealing washer. It wasn't there. I fished around with a pick and there's nothing there. I suppose it's possible that it was stuck to the DV valve when I pulled it out and fell off without me noticing, but I like to think that I would have noticed something like that...



I assembled it with a new washer... will see what happens tomorrow when I start it up...



Does anyone have any input? I've never done this before and I'm a little nervous about this whole thing

They don't all have washers. I have timed '94-'98 trucks and the later ones for sure don't have the washer and I'm thinking yours probably doesn't but I'm not 100% sure. My feeling is that '96 is when they stopped using them.
