Missing Hood Light

It was a sad day, but a happy day today.



Been looking for a Mega Cab for a while, and all that was around were the SXT versions. Was getting ready to accept defeat when I noticed an 07 SLT Mega. Thought it was used, but to both my amazement and the sales rep, it was new and only had 17 miles on it. Long story short, the sticker was $45,515, out the door at $27,299. Not sure if its a great deal, but in the process I turned over the keys to my 01 Quad.



I tried to look under the hood when i got home, but there's no light under the hood. I don't even see a harness on the hood. This strikes me as weird cause the truck has power everthing including seats, multi disc mp3, auto mirror and even the hands free bluetooth stuff. Is this something i can add, and if so, where do i get the parts cheap and how to install? Thanks.

ya its really lame huh, let me guess you dont have a glove box or cup holder light either. Its called a light package that you have to get to have all these so called extra lights. IMHO every vehicle should have a hood light standard. Lucky for you i believe you can purchase the stock harness and light and probably just plug it in, not sure where it is though without some research.

Yeah I ran into this when I ordered my 2003. Except back then the light group was tied with the laramie package. You may be able to buy the light and harness or any underhood light with a mercury switch will work with just a hot wire and a ground.

Exactly. Don't have those lights either. Hmmmm. Didn't notice that until you mentioned it. And after LFarmer mentioned it, I looked at that paperwork for the 01 Quad I traded in. It's a Laramie SLT so that explains why I had all the lights and this one doesn't. Will look around for an under-hood light. I would have to believe that the harness and connectors are in place somewhere for the interior lights as well as the under-hood light so it stands to reason that I should be able to add those items over the course of time.

You can order with pre-terminated wiring harness, so it's truly just a plug in operation. The kit uses 2 or 3 bulbs similiar to those in the factory fog lights... so there's actually usable light under hood when you need it!

Nice lights although they look quite vulnerable. If they came with a little protective cage... better yet.

You can buy all of the lights for the light package seperately. For the hood light you have to buy the light and the wiring harness.



I bought the cup/ash tray light and the hood light and harness from Dodge Parts Online Parts & Accessories Catalog. The harness plugs are there already, just plug everything in.

Thanks! I've seen this site before when looking for a replacement dash for my 01 that was cracked. Didn't find what i was looking for there, but it was a quick look anyway. Just spent a little time in there and am impressed. Already started a shopping list.
