Missing Lift Pump???

The 2005 I just purchased does not have a LP in the normal position. I asked the service tech and he went to show me where it was and he was surprised it was not where he thought it shopuld be, he said must it must be in the tank yet he thought it was the 2006's that were going to the tank. Any one out there know when they moved the LP's to the tank? Unfortunately the dealership (sales folks) I purchased from do not seem to have much tech info on the CTD's. Every time I would ask a question they would say no one has ever asked that before. I guess I must be learning something from all of you, maybe the dealer sales folks should spend some time on TDR. :-laf

In mid 05 DC started putting the pump in the tank. Also, when a lift pump goes out in the earlier 3rd gen truck under warrenty, they may get upgraded to the in tank pump.

My 05 was built in the August/September 2004 timeframe and has the in tank lift pump. It has yet to give me any problems (knock on wood) although it's only got about 16k miles on it.
