did the "follow my dotted line" thing for 3000miles about a 1+years ago (didn't tell y'all cuz i was embarrassed) lost about 1/2 to 1 quart over that time, and, after buying the new washer, I found the old one, just like that other guy, in the drain-pan... one of these days, i think i deserve the one with the detachable hose and spring-loaded ball valve... .
 
i've been using the shop-vac trick for my oil changes for the past two years, very easy, the 1-1/4 inch shop-vac hose fits right in the oil filler hole. turn the vac on and unscrew the drain plug, then shut off the vac, no mess! #ad
i would not use the blower to force oil out, because that would put unfiltered air(dust&dirt) into the engine.
