Competition R.R is ready for the 11’s

On top of the issues I had at Mission Raceway (BC) earlier this season, other diesel competitors have had other problems with the same tech guy. He had said that he simply doesn't like diesels and made sure they never got to run. Apparently he treats the ricer group the same way.

So, after our local boy Hoss was not allowed to run a few weeks ago, and his wife treated rudely on top of it, another Washington fellow wrote a letter (thanks, man) to the Mission Executive Board. Well, they responded immediately that they were investigating the issue.

This morning I was told that they had called to say that the tech guy in question had been reprimanded, and would no longer be teching diesels! :p We are promised tech inspections in a "professional and unbiased manner". In addition, they have requested that we return to racing at their facility, even going so far as to state that diesel pickups showing up for their "Big Rig" weekend on August 21-22 would be allowed to run for free !! Hey Pat, want a re-match? ;)

It's great to have Mission back, The Aug. 21,22 Big rig race/ Show-n-shine draws the largest attendance of any other truck gathering in the world. I attended last year and was very impressed w/ all the rigs. On top of all of that, the diesel p/u trucks get to race for free…wow!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right on!!!! I will be happy to go up for the Big Rig Races. I am glad this situation has been resolved and I am looking forward to returning to Mission soon!!!!

This guy probably has been building a race car for years, finally finished it only only to learn he couldn't EVEN catch the diesels. :-laf

It's good to hear when the tracks are stepping up to the plate to embrace the oil burners... Get Maddog and Fletcher to make a few side by side 10 second passes and you might find yourself with your own dedicated VIP pit area.

Yo Scottish bro,

I'll be calling you guys tomorrow, I needed to pick your brain.

Remember Bill. David has a real job now and won't be at the shop. But the brain's still there. And 2 more fast trucks are in the works. :D

I am going to give them a call today and find out for sure about the "Diesel pickups running for free" I do not want any misunderstanding on this issue. I would hate to see a bunch of people told they cannot get in free and cause more of a problem than we have already had.

I talked with the track manager on the weekend and he did say that we will get to race for free at the Diesel truck race, there will be a bracket class with a trophy for the winner.

Sounds like that tech guy needs someone to have a one way conversation with him..... or a trip to the Fan Room as we called it on the Boat :-laf if one doesn't work the other will.

Jim

LOL Jim, I think there's a line of folks waiting to escort him there...

Stefan, will you be around to maybe run one of your big trucks? If you are, just don't take me out in the first round; I like to lose to guys with no experience. :rolleyes: :{

BTW, on one of my runs at Bandimere, I was racing against a 16+ second truck. Well, I blew a boot just after launch, and coasted to the end of the track for a 23 second pass at 36mph and WON!! The other guy broke out... :-laf Someone's got video of that run; I'd sure like to see it posted.

Ouch! That'll leave a mark! :) I bet that is one lesson that they will not soon forget.

Mission will be hosting the Northwest Division Team Finals next month. I qualify to compete at both the team race and the Race of Champions. I have to saw that I am a little concerned with what I have been reading about Mission not being "diesel friendly". Anyone have a feel on if there will be problems getting teched? I run the sportsman class, and have not had a problem with the two local tracks that I run at, but I would hate to drive all the way to Mission and not be able to run.

I am not trying to stir anything up. I would just like some feedback from others that will be running the same race.

Paul, whose team are you on? I'm trying to make Pacific Raceway's team, and plan to run at the Finals at Mission as well. I don't think you'll have any problems based on what we've heard. You may want to call the track, and real friendly-like tell them you're racing on one of the teams and your concerns.

Just make sure you have the essentials covered, like driveline loops if you need them, helmet, etc.

You must be doing well with your truck. Care to share the details?

Paul,

You will not have any problems with your truck unless you fog the lights which I do not think you will do. I hope to see you there, make sure to stop by the house on your way up. Good luck!!!

Ronda,

I will be going on the Lakeview, Oregon team. There is actually two teams that I could go on, but I only qualify for the Race of Champions at Lakeview.

The track manager said she was going to talk to division 6, when she sends in the list of names, and express (nicely), the concerns.

I hope you make it too. It would be nice to have a few diesels at the divisionals. :D

Thanks Hoss! I'll be sure to stop by.

I've been practicing on not fogging out the lights. At Mission, I really shouldn't have a problem, with it being at such a low altitude. I raced at a corrected altitude of 8300ft over the weekend and I could control the smoke. I'm really interested in what it will run at Mission.
