Which stacks look the best miter cut or turnouts? I try to imagine them both on my truck and am leaning toward the turnouts. I asked this before but not to many responses then had to put the stacks off for a bit.

If you had them both or just like one better let me know. I know different stacks look better on different trucks and their setup so tell me which you like best for my truck :D . Yes I will end up getting what I like but wonder what the general consensus is among the masses. Thanks for your opinions.

I personally have had the turn outs on both my trucks, I like them best. The mitre cuts will blow soot all over the truck if you leave the truck out in the rain, the turn outs will only do that if I accidentally spray water in them giving the truck a bath.

I had turnouts on my truck... they STILL blew soot everywhere... they were on the truck when I bought it. I think miter cuts look better, and I like the way they smoke better too...

when I'm out on the highway, I notice that I like the way an 18 wheeler looks as it's going up a hill and it's putting out a little haze of smoke out of the stacks... much easier to see it when it's shooting straight up.

my turnouts were pointed ~45*... if I had it to do over again, I'd face them 90* out like a dump truck... I figure it would cut down on some of the soot shower and would let people on both sides of you listen to the full song ;)

BUT, I think miter cuts look best

I'm liking the looks of the turnouts though the exhaust blowing straight up is cool. If I got Miter cuts I found some nice looking rain caps to put on them so water wont go in and hopefully wouldnt bathe the truck to bad.

honestly? just pick whichever you think looks best... obviously the straight or miter cuts will put out more soot, but I got PLENTY of soot w/ my turnouts.

there are ways to reduce soot shower without using caps... caps will obviously be your best bet, but seems like a bit of a hassle...

but the look/sound of stacks makes up for a lot of the soot annoyance! ;)

main reason I got rid of mine was to have room for a toolbox. I've come very close to putting stacks back on a couple times! LOL!

The kids stay after me about putting stacks on my truck. But I have made up my mind of how high I want them. I dont want mine as high as the hay hauler around here have them. I also have heard that having the tops at cab level creates a lot of noise something like the 5" tip does on my 4" exhaust.

I want a set of stacks that has a real deep baratone(sp?) sound. There is a company close to where I live that has what looks like 8" stove pipes for stacks. They sound so rich and when the Jake some on... music. .

Hoss just put a set of 6" stacks on Nowel's old truck... and they look great...

OK... . suggestiions please...

I wouldnt want them more than 3 to 4 inches above the cab. Will the turnouts keep more sound out of the cab with less height than the miter cuts?

Rick how much on the 8" stacks?

DH, I have a pair of 5"turnouts for about 8 months now, and I've never had the 'soot shower' after it has rained hard. You might get some rain in them if the rain is coming at an angle. With miter cuts or straights no caps, you're always gonna get rain in them. Sure they look good, but I've seen what shoots out of the stacks after a carwash, talk about wasting your time and $5 for that carwash.

Iv got turn outs. I got a kit from Rob Thomas on here. He usualy does the miter but i asked for turn outs i think they look better. And the hole rain thing. As far as hight mine are about o 4" above the cab when i first put em on i wanted to cut them down but they have kinda grown on me that high, every one can see them coming. Its also much easier to find in parking lots. The realy nice thing about the kit is I can turn the stacks if i want em straight out or to the side.

Tell me about sound... would Miter cut 4in. above the cab be noisier than turn outs that started their bend at the top of the cab? Think that would make it about 3in. above the cab at the tips?

I always thought the 5" looked good but the 6" are growing on me. What's the sound smoothness and throaty difference?

coin operated... try as I might to keep water out of 'em, the mist alone is enough to cause a shower! :(
