I'm running into a delema with my stacks. I had installed my Grand Rock stacks a few weeks ago, but I ended up taking them off because they were to loud :{ I ordered the 6" turnouts and I ran it with my MBRP muffler. Drone was horrible, mainly because I have a regular cab and the pipes are right behind my head. Then I went down to the 5" turnouts with internal mufflers which my friend let me try and it helped out a ton, but still to loud for my taste. I got tired of the noise and as stated above, so off they came.

I'm thinking about ordering MBRP's resinator and intermixing that into the equation. Since I will have to drop down to the 5" stacks, I was wondering if there is any difference in sound between the turnouts and the miter cuts? I really like the miter cuts because they give a more racing look, but if they are louder then I will stick to the turnouts. I could really use the input from you 3rd gen guys because our trucks sound so different with stacks then the 2nd gens do. I want my stacks back Oo.

Go with the miters. You said yourself you liked the racing look of them and since stacks are generally done for looks as opposed to functionality, go with your favorite.

on a single cab, turnouts will allow you to drive w/ the windows down... the sound is SO much louder w/ miters...

w/ the windows up, the sound is the same between miters and turnouts

you need interior sound deadening BIG TIME

I still prefer the looks of turnouts on our trucks.
