ByPass Filter Question

Not a Cummins topic, but way too many knowledgeable people here to not ask. I bought a Mitsubishi 4D31T from a gentleman who removed it from canter truck.

I need an engine oil pan for this and can't find one. The OEM one is rusted really bad. It hadn't broke through yet, until I hit it with a pressure washer, ha-ha. Engine oil sample came back clean, so engine is good. Anyway, does anyone have info on parts, service, locations, or anything on these engines? Thanks.

Do you have the serial number from the donor truck?

If not what year and model was it?

We are a Mitsubishi Fuso dealer. I can check availability and find your nearest dealer.

If its a Canter model that should be fairly new???

I do not have the serial number of the truck. But I believe it was late eighties, possibly 1988 or 1989. But that's really all I know about it. It came with a 5 speed manual transmission from that truck as well. I am thinking about doing a swap into a smaller vehicle. Maybe a Ford Ranger, an old F 150, and old Bronco, or something like that. Or when my wife finds out I bought it I might just sell it

That sounds like an interesting swap. I hope you find what you need and keep us posted here. Good luck with the mrs.

I found a pan, but without the VIN it is a little dicey....

Year and model of the donor will put me closer to the right answer.

Here is the issue,

Without a VIN I am getting every use on a global basis for that engine. 15 different oil pan part numbers. Used in gensets as well for example. Just the truck model should get me what I need.

We took on the Fuso franchise in 2011 so I don't know the older truck models real well.

If you can't get that info I can contact my Fuso guy tomorrow and get some choices.

If it is the pan that I believe it to be Fuso has them on hand. Price shoud be about $300.00.

As luck would have it my Fuso District Service Manager is here today.

He says that probably came out of an FE-444 model truck. I will see if that is the same pan that I came up with the other night.

I come up with the following part numbers, there is a little margin for error working with out a vin.

Pan Gasket is ME013254. Suggested List Price is $23.28

Oil Pan is ME999851. Suggested List Price is $307.60

Both on hand at the PDC in New Jersey.

Send me your location and I will find your nearest dealer.

I think we are OK. I will find you a dealer tomorrow, been out snowblowing 14" of snow and my give a ***** is broken for the night...

Thanks, can't say I've ever heard of them either. What do you mean temporary?

Not sure, never have seen that before but there are several in your state with that designation. There are also five regular dealers. It may mean that they do not do Fuso Truck sales, only parts and service...

If they can order the parts without freight as a stock order and the price is in line it's all good. Just make sure that they will take the pan back without a restock if it does not fit. Tell them right up front what you are doing and that you do not have a VIN but that a FUSO dealer and a FUSO Regional Service Manager provided the part numbers.
