Mix diesel & kerosene in older tractor...?

My boss has a mid to late 80's Kubota 35hp naturally aspirated farm tractor. He is wondering if he can mix diesel & kerosene (about 50/50 ratio) WITH Stanadyne All Season conditioner and be OK?



Is kerosene OK in this vintage of engine?

Yes, you'll be fine. If you are buying fuel right now it is already blended with kero. The oil companies have been doing it to winterize fuel for as long as I can remember. If you're using the standyne conditioner, then you'll have all the lube the pump and injectors need a s well.

I could be wrong but I thought it was #1 and #2 blend for winter. That is what we use to use back in the 60's and 70's before anti-gel formula's. That and along with some other scary mixtures that I would never run in modern diesels.


The original question, I would rather use #1/#2 mix along with additives. Heck I use straight #2 with Power services down to -30 F without problems in my dodge but then again our dodges have a filter heater.
