mmo in oil

ok im currently trying mmo and diesel kleen as to the suggestions of another thread but i have a few questions about it one has anyone tried it in motor oil it said on there it helps w/ it don't remember what exatcly but know it said something also can i run this w/o diesel kleen at every fill up and lastly how about a gasser engine my cousin was interested in maybe useing it on his old ford anyways thanks in advanced

it makes your oil smell minty fresh. its a mystery on what it does, but it does something though.

It has been suggested that motor oils are a highly engineered product & that by adding an additive, you are changing the characteristics that have been engineered into the oil. Probably not a good thing.



However, adding MMO to the fuel, in low concentrations, may not be too bad. The added lubricity may be a good thing. But, I'm not positive about that.

Agreed, on not adding anything to today's oils, learned my lesson with lucas oil stabilizer after reading bob the oil guy's website.

MODERN day Engine oils DO NOT NEED EXTRA ADDITIVES, and when you start adding in some "other" chemical, you change the chemical structure of the oil you put it in. The oil Companies spend millions to formulate an oil so it will meet or exceed the manufacturers requirements. Extra additives are not needed!



Sometimes this can be disasterous, as some chemicals do not work together! Most of the aftermarket additives don't even list what is is the can!

My little brother is a mechanical engineer for the Dod and he tells me that the govt adds MMO to their jet engines oil. He didnt give me specifics (ratio's etc)

I dont suppose the govt takes kindly to their planes falling out of the sky, so I can assume it wont "hurt" the ol Cummins', however I cant point out any specific benefit either... .....

Adding additives

SOME additives might not be bad... . when they are used to replace the additive package that originally came with the oil.

I have been seeing the PowerServices DieselLube additive at Wally-mart for a while. . and it makes sence if you have a "good" oil filtration system to be able

to replace the additives in your oil as they are used up. Notice I say "GOOD" filter. . a bypass filter system or something else, more than just your factory spin on.



At first I thought that the DieselLube additive was for the fuel. . its powerservices, right? But its made to add to your oil to replenish the "OEM" additive package as it wears out.
