I want to thank everyone for comming! I had a great time, and met yet more great people! Guys like you are the reason I enjoy putting my effort into getting things together.

Josh

(BIR is Brainerd International Raceway. I'm going to looking into drag racing the trucks if people are interested. )

Long and tiring day for me, especially with the 4½ hour drive home, in the dark, and in some of the worst hoofed rat (deer) populated areas of the state.

The highlight of the day (for me) was blocking Kurt's (Smokin 90's) dowel from traveling any further. It was just in view through the hole and we had to customize the bolt by grinding off the threads to get it in. I tried levering it back, but no go.

I think the lesson there is that nearly 300,000 miles or 13 years old is NOT an excuse to put off blocking the killer.

Thanks to everyone that showed up and participated, especially Aron (Amianthus) and Josh Peters. I really enjoy seeing a good mix of diesel brands.

I'm just glad the long bed extended cabs fit on the lube rack so (almost) everyone that wanted to run had the chance.

Really good numbers from all the diesels. This was all straight #2 diesel fueling, too.

I would have loved to see the dyno numbers from the guy with the charged 96 Impalla.

Scott;

When Dave gets the fueling changed on his Powerstroke, you may be looking for those 370's and #10 plate to stay ahead of him. Fuel for thought...

Fueling Around

Ya it was a good time. Sorry for being a little late.

Thanks John for installing my new gov springs. Also for being patient with us doing the kdp at the same time.

Piers was right about the new spring clearing up my low end roughness. Now the truck runs so different. But for the good. :D

Thanks to the guy from Princeton with the KPD education and helping out. Although you did most of the work.

Ya know something. I saw a couple trucks leave some rubber the aspfalt. Too bad the it wasn't a Ford or GM truck.

When Dave gets the fueling changed on his PSD I'll just remind him how much it cost him to beat my numbers and blackmail him for free beer or I'll keep bombing.

Of course I could just add some mods for the dyno and then strip them back off when I am done with the dyno ;)

It would serve him right if I would keep bombing because it was after a ride in his plush Ford that I had to upgrade my stereo and add the leather. ;)

I know the PSD guys secretly hope to get as many miles out of their trucks as i already have on mine (they probably will). I just hope I am done with transmission problems for at least another 100k.

Is it just me or is anyone else getting sick and tired of the guys who are bombing the hell our of their trucks, some don't even run gauges, and then say if there is a problem they will get it fixed under warranty? The only problem here is ignorance and if the dealers could fix that they would be worth their shop rate;) No wonder new trucks cost so much.

I'm damned sorry I missed this one...

I had to work a bit, and when I got home, there were chores to do...

I'll keep an eye out for the next one.

By the way, I was thought of this while I was in the garage yesterday, waxing. I like to listen to Paul Brand's 'Auto Talk' on KSTP AM-1500.

He does a number of remotes, mostly from car dealers and auto parts places. It would be cool if he were invited to do 'Saturday Auto Talk' from a MNTDR event, don't you think?

Regards all.

Dave

Stock?

John (JNutter) was the ONLY stock truck in the mix.

You read Scott and I banter about Dave's Powerstroke and all the $$$ he has invested in the engine. To bad Scott had to drop some serious cash to update the creature comforts to keep up with a Ford... . Could have put more into the engine mods.....

That's a cool idea about inviting Auto Talk to a meet.

Miles? We had shoe vendors at work today. The Red Wing guy pulls his trailer with a 95 Dodge 3500 manual. 300,000 miles and his really happy with the service from his truck. He did spin the 5th gear many miles back.

Stock clutch, too. His secret on the clutch is always start out in granny and then work on getting the rig up to speed. He's been running a Fram & Rotella. I mentioned about the oil filter guts spilling loose and killing engines.

Great idea Dave. Next time I get an event set up I will look into that. Posting of the numbers was only appropriate after having a hundred people read the thread. So what do you guys want to have set up? Any ideas? I want to do things that people WANT to come to. If you have any ideas, drop me a line.

Thanx

Josh

Josh,

I look forward to Tech Events i. e. bombing parties. It would be cool to have some vendor competitions but that would get too heated up, besides the fact that they probably wouldn't come anyways.

I liked this last event, more so for the fact that I got too meet some good people and learn some technical things. Was looking forward to smoke rolling out of the shop from the trucks on the dyno though. Kinda like the videos you see on the internet. Brings to mind HVAC and the one of Jason Burton on PDR's site. :( Oh well. I'll just go back to watching the old turbocharged Perkins with the CAV D. P. A. smoke going down the field. :-laf

It would be fun to have some exhibition events but everyone knows no one can afford to do that. Maybe we could have someone from PDR or DD to come down and be a host of the event. ;) I would pay some good money for that if I wouldn't have to drive thousands of miles. ;)

I had a great time and look forward to the next event. I was kind of disappointed in my dyno numbers. The TQ (920) was ok but the 373hp was lower than I had expected, I was hoping for at least low 400's. I guess it's time to call up Piers so I can show those plug and play:rolleyes: Chevys how to make some serious power, and drive it home too:D !

Trever: Yes that was my truck with the stacks. I put everything together myself. Thanks for the compliment!

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Why don't you just cry me a river. ;)

I'm pretty cheesed at the fact that I couldn't break 500 HP like I wanted. Got some more tweaking to do. Break out the welder!!! That and I have to somehow fix the damage from the fire that broke out under my hood. Yes, my truck caught fire. Not really bad, just some scorched paint and a broken vacuum line. Man! When it rains it pours. :(

Oh well, it's only up from here.

BTW SMorneau, did your son tell you that we really didn't open it up? I didn't even hit the button for more smoke. Wait until I get these twins figured out, then we'll go out for another ride some time. Then I'll impress him.

FIRE?

What caused the fire under the hood?

Did you report it to Fireman Dave?

You were just dissapointed all the Kennedy boys beat you in horsepower.

BTW, that was SpicyJam's son you took for a spin in the truck.

Probably have to try this again in the spring when the weather clears and the pumps start serving decent #2 fuel again.

-John

If I wanted something plug and play, I would have bought a computer. Running 3 different trucks on the set-ups from one truck... . humm... may have to change the rules on that one for the next Dyno run. Spring... . sounds like a deal to me. I'm hoping to sell my sled and get twins. Fine tuning etc by spring. I guess I won't have to worry about the "plug and play boys" then.....

Josh

Call Fireman Dave?! What are you? On Dope? He'd still be in route (the way he drives:p):D.

The fire wasn't too bad, I only lost a vacuum line and scorched the paint. You can see the damage below.

As for losing to the Bowties, I'm not really upset about that too much. Just at the fact that my numbers were so much lower than I expected them to be. 100 HP at least. Oh well, still keep on tweaking.

I can't blame Kennedy for doing what he did. I mean, what better way to sell your product than to give the truck owner a taste of what it can do, and then take it away.

Don't worry, it won't happen again. (Bowties doing better than the Ram).
