Anyone experiencing this with their trucks? Mine will make a pronounced moaning noise when under light throttle within the first 2 miles after a cold start. Definitely boost related but the noise goes away & all I hear is normal turbo whine after 2+ miles of driving. Doesn't sound metallic or harmful, but is loud enough that it gets your attention. I've checked intercooler connectors & looked for loose hoses. Can't find anything abnormal.

Could be a slightly loose exhaust clamp? Something that when the parts are cold there's a large gap which seals after they warm up and expand?

Mine does the same thing and has since day one. I have noticed that it only does this when the outside temp is below 50. Still wondering what it is?????

Female truck?

WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!!!!

What shall I call her?:D :D :D

Still believe its boost related. Some kind of harmonic, I guess.

It seems common to me to get a little turbo charger moan when it is cold out under light throttle.

I do not know what causes this.

I noticed that myself. I had an '03 S. O. , wrecked it, then got my '03 H. O. on dealer year end close out. Both emmitted the same strange sound just after start up and when I was running the A/C or heat at low RPM. I've suspected the cooling fan or a pump to be the culprit. No worries!

Moaning Noise

I have heard the same noise with my HO and have always believed it to be cooling fan related, so no real problem. I have had the same type of noise before on several large displacement high performance engines before with LARGE MULTIPLE COOLING FAN BLADES; and only got rid of the noise by installing dual electric cooling fans.

mine does the same thing mine is the powersteering pump. it is leaking all over itself i am bringing it in for service tommorow. look at the pump to see if you have a leak. check power steering pump fluid.

Nope.

Mine is definitely boost & temp related. Not the fan clutch or power steering pump.

I know, I''ll call her Mona!!!Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.

I have a moan too, only when cold, but only coasting to a stop. Sounds like a bushing isn't getting enough oil. Long as it's not my turbo. But then again, its under warranty for now.

I think the noise is normal. Like I said, both of my '03 trucks made the noise. Only after start-up, and when I'm running the heat or the A/C. I've asked Dodge service people, but they really didn't give me a solid answer. Not that I expected much in the first place, but at least I'm not having to deal with John Deere people or an answer would have cost 10. 00, and the right answer would cost 20. 00. lol

You should hear a 2001HO moan at -45. One of my friends described it as 6 hammers smashing into the block! My power steering pump moans also when colder than 0-F
