Changing rear diff fluid in my 06 3500. Last time I used this Mobil 1 lube. Now when I went to get more all the stores just have the Mobil 1 LS type. I looked around and the LS is for limited slip. The stuff I used before did not state LS. Any thoughts on this lube?? Anybody using the LS type of mobil 1??? Do you think its ok to use??? THanks

Are you sure the "LS" means it's for limited slip axles? Your post triggers a vague memory about the last time I bought a few quart jugs of differential lube but my feeble brain won't recover the memory.

Surely Mobil Oil engineers are aware that both GM and Dodge light trucks use AAM differentials and this product doesn't require a limited slip additive? If the differential lube contains an additive their market for the product is limited to Ferds and old Gen II Dodge Rams. Maybe some cars use synthetic diff lube?

Well I just called Mobil and low and behold. Talked to someone. They said the the LS is just new packaging. The guy on the phone said its the same as the old stuff that was not LS. .

The Mobile 1 is the only lube that I've tried that doesn't make my rearend chatter on a corner, and I believe is has an additive for limited slip.

Same deal as ABarry. Used the Mobil I that did not have the LS designation for several changes and when changed the last time bought the Mobil LS since that was all they had. Before installation, I checked the Exxon-Mobil website and it indicated the LS was for both conventional and limited slip rear axles so went ahead and installed it. Also, before I installed I checked both the Pennzoil and Valvoline websites and their synthetic 75-90 rear axle lubes say the same thing about use in limited slip and conventional axles. So, I feel comfortable with the Mobil I LS, but would drain it out jiffy if some has info that indicated it should not be used.
