I used to get the Mobil 1 trk/suv oil at Walmart... Cheap price for the 5 qt. jug... But now I have been to at least 10 Walmarts in Cal. Az. , and no more stock. ? One manager says there not getting it anymore and he don't know why. Anybody know whats the deal ? :{

The plant was heavily damaged by a huricane. Anyway, that is what I was told. SSSSSSOOOOOO, look for a price hike when they come back on line.

Does your Wal Mart have Rotella in gallon jugs like mine? They have 15-40 and 5-40 at a good price. I think it is a much better oil anyway.

People say the Rotella conventional smells nasty, I think I've heard the same for the synthetic.

I, also, heard that the plant was damaged by the hurricane. That being said, other weights of Mobil 1 are still on the shelf. Maybe, they are produced at another plant.

BHolm,

With all due respect for your opinions, why do you not care for the Mobil 1 products?

I have not used them myself but, have read numerous times about their "high quality". They seem to be highly respected by many at "bob is the oil guy.com". Mobil Delvac 1 is a highly thought of synthetic motor oil & is used by many fleets that use extended oil change intervals. If memory serves me right, some of these fleets are up to 125,000 miles between oil changes. Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 5w-40 is thought to be the same product, by some. If it isn't, it's very close. Mobil Delvac 1 (CI-4+) & Mobil 1 T&S (CI-4).

My understanding is that Mobil 1 manufactures a lot of the synthetic base stocks that other oil companys use for their oils.

I know you have quite a bit of experience with diesel pick-ups & I'm in no way trying to start an "oil war" with you. However, I am curious as to why you do not care for the Mobil Products when so many others really like them. You may have some very good reasoning that I would be interested in.

Thank You.

Or get the 5gal pail for even cheaper. Try a TSC for Rotella. Locally it is $6. 88 a gal at TSC.

I am not in the snow belt or the arctic north of Canada or Alaska. So for me here in TX, all I will ever need is 15w-40. Gonna give the Castrol Tection a whirl this coming oil change.

NavyDood,

The Checker Auto Parts Stores, here in AZ, are selling the Castrol Tection Extra 15-40 diesel motor oil on a "buy 1 get 1 free" basis.

In other parts of the country these stores are known as Kragen & Schuck's.

That might be a good buy, for you.

I still get the Mobil1 delvac syn 5w-40 just as easily as I ever had, I think the price went up about 4 dollars per 4gal case though. Not too much to bother about.

PS, but the price increase is mostly due to the new bottle design probably. Nice change, now you don't need a funnel. It is pourable and doesn't chug really. Worth the 4 bucks I'd say. As often as I end up losing funnels, well at least untill I don't need it, then I find it.

The suspicion about the hurricane damage is correct... my local parts house confirmed this... unfortunately, that plant was THE only plant that made ALL the synthetic base stock... for every oil company. So get you synthetics now before they are gone... I bought the last of it in my local store to do my change... that's when they said that was all they would have for a while and told me about the hurricane.

Went to four walmarts in central Utah yesterday looking for Mobile 1... Nada,

ended up getting my oil changed with 5w-40w rotella syn. (extreme cold here) for $62. 00 out the door!! Included the filter... . I'm sold!! Won't get my hands dirty doing oil changes again for that price... :-laf :-laf
