Does anyone have a source for the new Mobil 1 5w-40 Turbo Diesel Truck oil? the website lists Autozones and Wallyworld in my area, but none of them have it in stock yet.

I bought it just before the winter and put it in my truck.

Since then I have not been able to find it either. Seems what was out was out, once sold the source dried up.

I had gotten it at Walmart. I found a few 5qt jugs behind some other oils to my joy.

I had seen it a few months before that, and figure ok I'll buy it when I need it. Went back and no longer a shelf full of it. Frantic searching and I found 2 jugs and one quart. Just enough

But havent found it anywhere since.

It has been great in the winter.

I'm due for a change, so April is a good time for it to come back into stock !!

I frequent the tdiclub.com site as well as this one. On that site, it has been stated several times over the past few years that Cat synthetic oil is rebranded truck and suv. I cannot verify whether there is any truth in that, but have been dumping the stuff into my vw golf tdi with no apparent ill effects over the past few years. I can get that a bit cheaper at the Cat dealer than truck and suv (when it was available) at wallyworld. regards, steve whalen

Mobil 1 Delvac 5W-40 full synthetic was designed for diesel engines, I can go 10-12k between oil changes, filter change at 5k. The problem is it's not off the shelf stuff, you have to get from a mobil dealer/supplier. It's not to costly, It's well worth it. I've got the spec sheet if you need it. .

I have used Delvac 1 all the time for the last 3-4 years in my tdis. . you can get it around here often on the local auto parts shelf, but its $25 bucks plus for a gallon, I always did 5000 mile dump on my tdis with the delvac 1 , on a cummins i always used rottella, just cause you need a lot of oil

$100 plus oil change gets expensive quick. . what is teh price on this new mobil1 turbo diesel?,... . and how much differnt is it from Delvac 1?

thanks

Deo

oh and i checked the cat synthetic toio the local cat delaer doesn't have it on the shelf so i would have to order it and last time i checked it was like $28 bucksa agllon and if i did a 55 gallon drum it was &800-$1000

so its wasn't cheaper to run the cat oil at least at my location. . i have 3 freind who are cat mechanics too so the discount was in there...

thanks

Deo

I would and did switch

to amsoil 5w 30 diesel it is less expensive and i run it in all my vechiels in including motorcycles. using it for since 98 over 1 million miles combined and still purring sweet. just traded a 98 cummings w/ 275k amsoil in all fluids has been great.

Ok, i guess i lied to you guys. After reading posts to my suggestion about substituting CAT oil i called my supplier again and checked the price i paid last time i purchased. My last purchase of several gallons was over a year ago and i paid $21/gallon plus change. that was about a buck cheaper than i paid for truck and suv oil at wally world. the local CAT dealer now wants $30. 32/gallon. hope this is not an indication of what the reformulated truck and suv will go for when it hits the shelves at walmart. regards, steve whalen
