When I bought my truck back in late '02, I bought enough Mobil Delvac 1 to last me to 90,000 miles. At 83,000 miles now, I'm going to have to buy some more soon. I run mine 9,000 miles and change the filter at 3,000 mile intervals (probably too often for the oil and filters). I looked on Mobil's website to see the lastest about Delvac 1, and see where it's still listed as CI-4/CI-4+, so I guess that's a good thing. I'd like to hear back from anybody else who's run this oil as regards their change intervals/oil analysis results/experiences (good and bad).

Thanks,

Steve

I am running it 20k mi between changes , use amsoil dual bypass setup change filter every 5k analysis looks good.

I switched from Amsoil 15w-40 HDD to Mobile a couple months ago about the samw time that I started seeing a difference in my fuel. Supposedly now the ULSD has finally made it's way into my tank even though I thought I had been running it for the last year. Anyway, my mileage jumped from 10-10. 5mpg to 11+mpg. Haven't figured out if it was the nice dry summer, the oil, the fuel, or my truck finally getting broke in at 160K (at the time of switch).

I'll be changing back to Amsoil this week and I'll let ya know what happens. The Mobile tests come back with approx 40ppm Moly whereas the Amoil has single digits if any. Might be worth noting.

Steve, I did try Delvac 1 but only did it for one oil change on my '01. I thought it did good, only went back to Amsoil because I could buy it cheaper. I went 20,000 miles without a bypass filter, just changed the stock one 2 times in between the oil change (just under 7000 miles per filter). I sampled at 10,000 miles and got the best wear metals numbers I ever had, but at the next 10,000 mile interval it fell off noticeably (but not significantly), but evidently the oil began to "fatigue" a little, more than the Amsoil. But since I only ran it once I can't put much weight on my results. I think it's an excellent oil.

I've been using Delvac 1 since the first oil change on my 2003 HO, and oil analysis at each change has been good. I was changing oil and filter at 7500 miles as the factory recommends. My last change was a 10,000 mile interval and that is what I plan to use now that I am over 100,000 on the truck. Previously the 7,500 mile changes gave TBN values near 9. 0. The last change, with 10,000 miles on the oil, was 8. 3 which is still better than some of the oils tested in the recent TDR article.
