Cool, I think thats a good one:

ExxonMobil engineered Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40 to help extend engine life in modern turbo-charged diesel engines, even those operating in severe conditions such as towing and hauling. This formula meets the latest industry standards, including CI-4 Plus

So what that tells me is they didn't have a compatable oil till now. Some company's are so slow. And some folks are so stubborn about trying something else.

Not really - the CI-4+ oils are required for EGR engines, which doesn't include the Cummins (yet). Looks to me like they're getting ready for the Tier III engines (1/1/07 emissions regulations).

Mobil Delvac I was already a CI-4+ oil.

I don't understand this...........

I have been useing Mobil 1 Truck & Suv 5w40 for at least a year now. although it was hard to find after Katrina. So what is different about it now?

Mobil I Truck & SUV carried an API CI-4 rating (Delvac I was already CI-4+). The new Turbo Diesel Truck oil is CI-4+. I haven't seen the spec sheet, but it's probably very close to Delvac I, if it isn't Delvac I repackaged for the consumer market.

My guess is they are repackaging the same oil again. IMHO it (Truck & SUV 5w40 and M1 Turbo Diesel 5w40) is all Delvac 1. The way it is marketed is the only difference.

that same oil formulation has been around for years, so dont let the new lable fool you. for a "synthetic" product to perform that bad boggles my mind. !! :--) south east laboratories did the oil specs. :D here is your link

www.amsoil.com/testimonials/8pt2_morempg.aspx thanks.

Seeing how that is posted as an advertisement for Amsoil I don't know how valuable that information is for me personally. JMHO

All of the truely "independant" testing of Delvac 1 that I have seen shows it to be a very soild oil.

My understanding was that the old Mobil1 was taken off the shelves and reformulated. Technology has changed a lot ,makes sense. At least they (mobil) made the leap into the syn market. Give some credit. I'm using it in my truck and have oil analysis done every 5k with low #'s on everthing. Nothing worse than a salesman knocking someone elses product line ,Idon't deal with morons like that

first i wasen't trying to sell anything, 2nd i was showing you some wear tests that showed that it was not all that!! you would think that after 20+ years that moble would make something superior, but they still cant get it right. resent testing reveals the same results, the amsoil testing is done by the same people who analize for NASA and most of the military, among many others. . . if you use it and your happy then fine. moble hardly ever puts quality in the bottle they would rather put quanity in the bottle, testing has revealed such inconsistences very often. wasent knocking on moble so much, but rather showing that the oil is just relabled, and even if it is the NEW technology, testing sure dont show it. !!! a moron is someone that can't understand that!!! : :-laf

accually the delvac15w-40 is way better than the "new" mobile, according to the testing. i belive that new 5-40 is the same old 5-40 syn oil they've had for a while. but who know's that may not be true? :D

Reading though unbiased virgin oil analysis leads me to belive than the Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 5w40 and the Delvac 1 5w40 are the exact same product.

Reading though unbiased used oil analysis proves to be the either Mobil product performs extremely well and can hold it's own against several other synthetic oils.

This 4 ball wear test is neat, but I like to see real world feedback of how the oil is holding up in a true test, in the engine.

JMHO.

FWIW - I do not use Mobil products but I would not hesitate to use them as the majority of them are quality products.

i guess you mean real world test by oil analisis. well thats about as close as your going to get but it would take about a year on each oil. only because of fuel and temp and many other desiding factors involved in this. good luck :-laf
