Has anyone out there used or formiler with (Mobile 1300) motor oil for diesels, 15W-40. I beleive it is new on the market or I just noticed it on the shelfs in Wal-Mart. Need information. Thanks in advance.
I've been using Mobil 1300 Delvac since I bought my truck. I'm at 12,500 miles now and haven't had any problems, though that isn't saying much. I buy it in gallon jugs, using most of a case per oil change.
Mobil Delvac 1300 has been around for some time and there are people out there with 100,000's of miles useing it. Most oils are the same now days as long as they have the same SAE standards. Personally I use Rotella T and only because I can not find Delo 400 in 10-30 for winter use.
Mobil Delvac lubricating oils have an excellent reputation among operators of large industrial engines of diesel, dual fuel and spark gas configuration. As an engine manufacturer, we have recommended Mobil Delvac and Pegasus (low ash and ashless) oils numerous times to customers who were experiencing lubrication-related problems, especially internationally where base stocks and additive package quality of local oils might be questionable.
Thanks for your replys. I used the Mobile Devac oil for about 1000 miles and the engine seem to sound and run different then it normally does. I cant put my finger on it but it seem to run harder from the time I changed the oil untill I draind it and went back to mopar oil. It seemd that the oil felt a little like syntetic oil and would be good for the engine but it was just the opposit, any ideas? I also thought I read some where that it had a poor wear charactoristic? Any comments? I try to use all Mobile products, I use Mobile Fuel and am very satisfied with it. I'v been a Mobile products person for a long time, good qullity. Thanks.
Bill -- You shouldn't be able to tell the difference between one oil verses another by the way the engine sounds once it is fully warmed up. If you use a full synthetic, a cold engine will smooth out sooner than with a conventional oil. But that is about it. Any oil that is doing its job will prevent metal contact once the engine is running. There should be no difference in the sound the engine makes. On the other hand, the fuel you use can make a big difference with regard to engine noise.
