Diagnose this...strange start issue

Nasty power loss....Fixes itself???

I chalk this one up to a succesful test still though - showing that the modded rail moved the useable HP down in the RPM band. Once the new relief valve is in I will test to see if the modded rail can make more MAX HP

PS - This means more TQ for same given HP, does it not?

Good stuff! Thanks for taking the time to do this comparison.

The gain in your low end power practically mirror the dynos you did when you got the modded CP3 first installed. If you gained 100 HP in the low end with a modded CP3 and presumably healthy relief valve back then to get your 60x HP, then I can't wait to see what the modded rail + healthy relief valve dyno will look like!

Further, this latest dyno graph very clearly doesn't have the goofy ~2000 rpm dip when the rail pressure typically briefly runs low like on more stock-like trucks running a TST.

Regarding the 200 rpm dip - I think that was solved wit hthe modded CP3, that and the cool no-boost-reference TST program I have ;)

ohh - and BTW ...

took off the banjo from the top of RP relief valve, revved her till 3000 and popped off the throttle and guess what? Big ol fuel spot on the hood liner and speckles of fuel all over. My suspicions were correct, a fowled up relief valve.

I am interested in possibly getting one of these..

What would I expect by adding a modded rail to my truck with my current mods? I love power, but it is my daily driver and at 5500' elevation spooling is slower than I would like currently. So what are the positives and negatives of a modded rail on my truck with thinner air at 5500'?

hey Tom,

It's hard to tell on those graphs, it looks like the dyno run with the modded rail started sooner and the HP side of the graph "scale" is set at different numbers on the scale. So from my point of view it's hard to tell how much you gained. Were the runs started at the same rpm? A later start will give peak HP at a later rpm

We really tried to keep the variables to a minimum - both runs we did twice for confirmation and started at 1100 rpm, we locked the dyno for 2 seconds to load it and then used 90 on the ramp rate both time. I also did verify that the screen read my actaul RPM both times, which it did. The only thing I forgot was to have the guy adjust the start and end values on the 1st graph. Thats why I used the 300hp @ "X" RPM as a gauge

I can tell you that I do for sure feel a difference on the street, alomost like I have a smaller turbo - I used to really be able to short shift to get under the turbo, now it is not quite as easy...

Once I have the new valve on I will reinstall the stock rail and do it all over again to see if any max HP can be gained AND to confirm these results :)

haha, thats being said - theres always the possiblity for user error.

The second test with a better relief valve will be more informational

Well I like it, I installed the "Wild" rail on my truck and a customers truck and both of us can tell a big difference. Haven't dynoed yet but going to. How do you tell if the relief valve is bad, just undo the banjo? I thought fuel would spray out at high pressure?

Is the manifold as easy to mod as it looks? Can we just drill out our own? How much larger are the holes in the wild rail?

Were always looking for better mods, especially when they are free.

I was wandering the same thing. By the way guys, think twice before dealing with T & C Diesel performance. I just bought a CP-3 off ebay just to have an extra. I put in my max bid, went out for the evening, came home and I had won it. Well, then i get an email from t&c saying that I better get ready because anything I bid on now, they are gonna run the price up, and just freaking out on me. What kind of cry baby would do that. I know I don't want any parts from guys like this. I just can't understand why someone would even do this. Its so childish. So now he's bidding on everything I am. its crazy. He must think I care a lot more than I do. Oh well. Just hought I'd let you guys know what kind of a person he is.

Hmmmm,,Let see Here, We have a disagreement (You and I) and who goes and try's to make divisions... Yep its childish, But its you who is doing it. . I gave YOU a heads up ,That I Plan I competing on all auction You Bid on... As far as anyone else I will Drop out of the Bidding if ask too. . Its Call Business. Please try to compete on this Level. . You may enjoy it... Heck if you ask nicely instead of calling ME a F***K**,In Your Emails to Me, I will kindly drop aside, its more Profitable For YOU. . I have no desired to P***S you off. .

Wow. Big attitude change once you get on here where everyone can see what your saying. I don't take too lightly to being threatened like you did in your first email to me. I haven't lost out on anything. I've never needed anything from you, and now I never will. I actually have 13 trucks that were gonna get modded rails if the first one turned out good. Now I definatley won't be using anything that you had something to do with. I have been on ebay for a long time and have never received an email like the one I received from you. And like I said before, if your pockets are so deep, why not buy new pumps. I'm a small town guy with a small shop. All I did was buy a pump off ebay so i can have an extra laying here in case I need it. If I did something wrong that I'm missing here, someone let me know. But I thought that is what ebay and any other aucion is for, for people to bid and buy. If you don't bid enough, you lose. I can't help you lost, I can't even believe we're having this discussion. But anyway, just wanted to let other people know what kind of person their dealing with if they choose to deal with T & C Diesel Performance.

Here is one of the Two Ebay Emails I received from Blacks Diesel.

Dear t_c_dieselperformance,

What the hell are you talking about. I simply put in my max bid and went out to eat, come back and I won it. Why the hell are you threatening me? If you wanted it, why didn't you bid more. I don't give a **** what you do or bid on. Run it up, whatever you want to do. I don't know what your problem is, but you can kiss my ***. I'll let redliner know that you plan on running bids up and not paying so he can keep an eye out and cancel your bids. Why did you want it, so you can do a couple of 2 minute mods and sell it to some poor guy for $1200? Go to hell, smart ***.

Nothing wrong with snipe Bidding, But when the Favor is done in return, Go to a Public forum and complain about it... NGM this is just another matter of Your Involvement in matters that DO NOT concern You. .
