The first thing wrong with my 2005 Truck is the defrost selection on mode control. No matter if the "AC" button is on or off, Cold air blows out when the mode selector is on the defrost position. If you have any "HOT" tips, please feel free to type an anecdote. I will be making a "HOT" date with El Dorado Dodge, this week... . :{ :{

All the other positions work fine. Just the "DEFROST" selection is not happy...

Mine does the same. I think it's supposed to work that way. When in the "defrost" position, the a/c will run to remove moisture from the air which will in turn remove condensation from the inside of the windshield. If the inside temp is too cold and condensation forms on the outside of the windshield, I just turn up the heat control a little bit to equalize the temperature.

Thanks for the heads up. It has been over 100 degrees here in Northern Cali, for the past 17 days. I have not had a chance to see if this issue is a program or not.

I will go outside at 5:00am and fire it up. Maybe in the cooler temps, I can come to a scientific conclusion. Currently, it is only theory! My hypothesis, based on outside information, (yours and thank you very much) is that you may be on to something... . :D

That's the way it's supposed to work for the reasons formula mentions above. It's very happy :) I think the owners manual explains it also. Don't worry. It's for safety purposes. If the compressor didn't kick on when the defroster came on and there was a lot of moisture in the ducts then you'd get a quick fog on the inside of the windshield while underway and would not be able to see.

Heh, why are you using your defroster during California summertime anyway?

I aslo understand that increases the relaibility of the compressor. According to John Holmes at Carson Dodge the compressor does not get much use in the winter which leads to premature failure. According to John a dramatic decrease in compresor failure has been achieved.
