ROTFLMFAO!!!!!!

This is getting funny. Sorry folks, just that I can't believe some people have the time worry about stuff like this with all the crap thats going on in the world today!

Stan

Stan, I agree.

"What a country". The rest of the world worries if they will wake up alive, both legs attached, and be able to eat today. We, on the otherhand get to wake up after a full nights sleep, get a fresh cup of coffee, sit down at the computer, and pisc-and-moan about how bad we have it, having to put up with "soooo much" that "just isn't right". Hey! I'm guilty as the next guy.

RE: what's allowed to be posted, I havn't a clue as to what the answer is. I can see both sides and I am quite entertained watching though. Keep up the good work guys. #ad

I cannot help but be disheartened by people's insistence that it must be somehow hideous to be forced to exist in a world where the "f" word isn't used. That dirty jokes are not told. That swearing isn't acceptable. That personally insulting each other is considered far too rude to be allowed.

Since when was there virtue in vice?

Does being expected to live UP to a standard make you uncomfortable? I wonder.

If so, you'd have a tough time in my house. The word "God" is never followed by a word starting with "D" and ending with "n". The "f" word is not spoken. Insulting each other's intellect or anything else gets you seriously punished. In fact, all the words represented by the #$@#$&* keys are NOT used.

Are we as adults so put upon to be expected to actually try to RAISE the quality of our conversation? Is it REALLY such burden to bear that you can't stand it?

TDR has been trying to make this a place that's BETTER than average, ABOVE the norm, and it seems to me that extending just a little courtesy in that regard seems not only fitting, but proper. What is your message? That TDR should live down to the lowest common denominator among us? I hope it doesn't.

I too like breasts. I like them big, white, round, firm, and juicy. I prefer them extra crispy, as opposed to the original recipe. I like them BIG, small, and all sHaPeS and sizes, as long they are willing to let me eat them.

OOOOPPS, I had better stop this, I might offend some of you California type VEGANS out there.

And there lies the problem.

Powerwagon, who are YOU to decide what conversations are not up to TDR standards?

We can be talking tech one thread, and having a blast on another.

I am disheartened by people who can't eat a hamburger because it used have eyeballs that could look at you, but I don't tell them to live UP to THAT standard. ( If it moos, barbecue. )

Moderating started to keep really bad words, and threats off of the boards.

TDR wanted to be a G site, not an R.

Most everybody agreed, and we ended up at about PG for a while.

Now it has progressed into shaping, controlling, conversations, becuase they don't live up to a moderators standards.

You need to step back and look at what you are saying, and what your political views are, because they don't match.

Who am I? I dunno. I'm the guy who was given the task of deciding that for the forums I moderate. That's why I say repeatedly, if you think I'm wrong, take it up with the management. Until they determine I am misrepresenting what they believe is what should be done, I guess I'm doing things as they desire.

For this forum, it's Dennis who's given the job. For other forums, it's others.

This isn't political, Sled, this is a forum. This belongs to someone, they pay the bills to keep it online and functional. The "rights" of free speech don't actually apply here, like it or not. Just as the way I expect people to behave in my home, TDR management desires to have a certain quality of conduct on their forums. They excercise that same judgement about the content of the magazine they publish, and I have yet to see anyone complain that the standards they use in choosing what to publish in the paper magazine are too high. Nobody has been complianing that the paper magazine has a lack of dirty jokes and four letter words. Ergo, I conclude there's no demand for it.

Nobody says we're all going to agree. Every one of us has a different perspective. Here, for instance, we've even got the privelidge of stating our views about it.

Historically, this has always been the judgement call of the moderators. Right here and now, what you're really doing is disputing his judgement. That's fine, but it seems that people can't take "losing". More than one individual has said "I don't like the standards they want to enforce, so, I'm leaving. " That being the case, then, do we simply keep changing the bar, so to speak, until nobody objects to how "high" it is, in terms of conduct? Do we lower it until we reach the point that the last vocal critic has nothing to complain about? If that's the case, there won't be a standard at all, it will be a complete free-for-all. And a free-for-all of the people with the lowest standards or no standards is NOT how you get and keep your readership.

But the vocal critics that complain about how high the bar is, are not the only critics. There are those who privately ask for offensive things to be removed. There ARE those who ARE offended by crudities, profanity, and low-brow conversation. They leave, and they do so quietly, without making a fuss.

So, the final gist of all this is, we're in a "damned if we do and damned if we don't" situation, where no matter WHAT standards we try to maintain, there will be disagreement. So, to further extend the idea in my previous posts, I say that good, that high standards, that a high level of discourse, is it's own defense. If it is offensive to you to be asked to not make crude, sexual, or prejudicial posts, or if it's offensive to you that the "four letter words" not be used, then I'm going to ask you why.

But, this is just MY opinion. You have yours... put them down, and lets judge them on their merit.

If it was a %#$@&@(* word I could see, but we are discussing this because it included the word "BREAST'S"... ... What happens if I used the word "LEG" or "BUTTOCKS" ?

Pah - lease::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::>>>>>>>>>>>>>... .....

CRAP.

We are back to the attitude,

" I am Powerwagon, moderator and you are not. "

I never argued sleaze PW, I argued colorful discussions.

The men(?) who whine and complain in private should move on. .

This is a forum, speak your peace, don't cry to a moderator to speak for you. .

If 100 guys quit this forum, it would be pretty dull, and not much good info would get posted.

I offered to try to get you my position, if you want it. That still holds. If it you think it's such a thrill to be a moderator, then by all means, I'd love you to try it.

If you volunteer to be a moderator, just do it! If its too hard on you don't do it again but don't cry as nobody had a gun to your head! YOU VOLUNTEERED!

I gotta agree with Sled 150% on this one!

I volunteered to be the "ways and means" chair of our So Ca club... its rough but I'll see how I feel about it when done. but I will not fuss.

I find it very amusing that my post was edited for content because it used the proper terms for human anatomy. Not one fowl:p word was used. How do you all educate your children on human sexuality when you cany have the words "tongues" and "breast" in the same statement?

If you really want to see profanity, I can oblidge you. Six years as a drunken sailor taught me that, and also earned me the right to speak my mind! As far as I am concerned untill you defend your country and its sometimes misguided foreign policy, you should keep quiet untill you leave the borders of this great nation and see first hand how people in a 3rd world country live

In the past I've made a post to one of the Doc's famous threads/surveys that caused the thread to be pulled... I guess in mixed company my joke addition to the thread was a bit off. No hard feelings... but it was a funny joke...

But as far as lite hearted some sterotypical jokes, I think some folks need to get thicker skin. My wife, who is blonde, gets a kick out of blonde jokes. I'm such a mixed bread american mutt, you probably can't miss hitting me with a sterotypical joke. I don't care cause I'm an American. Godbless America!

Now as far as someone asking earlier if anyone had something against some certain things... ... ... ... . I got nothing against ... ...

well I guess I wont go there with that joke... that'll probably get either my post or the thread killed...
