I have questions for you modern Dodge experts... I have a 2001 47RE that I want to install in a very old truck. It's going on the back of a 2001 Cummins engine & it's going in a W300.

The question is not "IF"... it is going in... it "IS" going in!

The question is this... I'm told the engine is easy to make go in a truck with no electronics in the dash & can be up & running within an hour of being installed.

I need to know what's involved in making that transmission shift without electronic speedo & all the other sensors & nonsense.

The computer is on the engine & I'm told the transmission harness plugs to this computer.

I imagine it relies on data from the instruments that run to that computer but I need to know how to bypass all that crap & make it shift?

There's a guy not far from here that's done it but I don't know him or how to reach him.

Surely a guy that works on these transmissions must know what they require & if this can happen without having to butcher my dash like so many other conversions.

Does anyone know about this stuff or know any shops that are capable of dealing with this type of electronic nightmare:confused:

Thanks very much in advance!

You were told wrong since you are using a 01 Cummins, as it needs the truck computer to input some info.

So, since you need the other computer, you can make the trans work too.

For those of you who are using an older Cummins, up to 98. 5 then it won't need the computer and then it would be best to use a 47rh trans.

Well it sounds like what you're saying is I know others have done it but I'm not sure how.

I'll post how it's done once I get that far along.
