Off Roading leaf springs for 3rd gen?

Competition Spool on the street?

So - the wife and I headed over to the local pulling track on Saturday night. I didn't even bother brining the camera... until I saw the "1 Bad Habit" Scheid truck on the fairgrounds I thought it was just going to be a normal pull! I couldn't believe my eyes... Modified pulling trucks were pulling no more than a couple miles from my house! Oo. Back to the house we went to grab the camera so I could capture the early season action!

1 Bad Habit pulled first and wowed the crowd to get 'em ready for Kent Crowder in the Scheid Truck who pulled it out the back door... 315' 9" (That was the only distance of the mod trucks I know for sure. )

Ratical Ram II (with new 3rd Gen body!) was up next. The truck ran great and stopped at around the 275' mark. The last named truck was Pullin' to Please, and they certainly did please the crowd even though their distance was bested by Crowder.

The last truck to pull was the Cummins powered Ford formerly owned by Chris Watson. (All of the graphics were removed from the body... but it was obvious which truck it was. ) They had all sorts of trouble getting it running - despite copious amounts of ether. The clutch seemed to be really grabby and the driver kept stalling it. The amount of white smoke certainly was indicative of a HEAVILY (over?) fueled truck with very low compression. It left the track under its own power, but I got the impression that the driver was disappointed from it's (first?) outing based on his body language.

The pics I took of the mod trucks came out horribly (too dark outside - storm approaching / nightfall), but I do have video of all of the trucks which is very good quality. If someone has a hosting site for 40+MB files... I can FTP 'em to you.

Later,

Matt

I passed the purple Ford and 1 Bad Habit on I-39 Saturday... was wondering where they were headed. Thanks for posting the pics.

Ok, now I'm ticked!

Where was this in Wisconsin!?? I drove 7 hours to Franklin Indiana Saturday morning to pull and I could have stayed in the state and seen these guys pull?

Ha! I only had to drive 20 miles to test on the same night, but it looks like I should have come to Wisconsin. Kind of funny that my old truck, terrys new ride, and my new truck all got tested on the same night. Looks like after talking to Rodd that they were having gearing/clutch issues. I myself had a water injection problem (too many injuns not enuf chiefs) I had to shut er down about five seconds into the run after I saw a foot high flame coming out of the stack, oh well, it was time to rebuild the turbo and do a valve job anyway;) its amazing how good it ran with 720 degree air pumping into it at 170 lbs. and 2300 degrees at the manifold.

HOLY SHEEP CRAP!!!!!!! :--)

That is about right on the air temp, my street twins should be about around 600 degrees before the intercooler.

Good to see you guys have it up and running Chris!
