Just thought I would let ya all know that those nice OEM molded mud flaps will wear a line in the paint job wear they wrap around the outside of the truck. I dont even have 5k on her yet. I went to install some new Dee Zee running boards and was slightly upset to find marks that are almost through the clear coat. Well at least the boards catch the eye and not the marks. I guess they cant stay new looking forever.

I looked at a pair the the local ******* and what i didnt like was that big cavity that will hold all sorts of crud and water. Dont need that!

Got a pair from Geno's and they show no resemblance to the picture on the web site. They are going back. The molded look ugly and would be hard to keep clean. I'm disappointed.

I have a complete set of the Mopar molded flaps and they do what I wanted them to do. Keep the rock chips to a min. As for lines through the clear coat, I doubt anyone will ever see them as I never plan to remove the flaps :-laf

Rust??? No problem. . Mopar part on Mopar truck = Mopar warranty. Mopar must fix. . I see no problem here.

Bombero is right about the hollow cavity collecting junk. Here in the south where it doesn't snow much we use sand on the roads instead of salt as they do up north. I removed mine after the first snow we had and they were full of sand. If this were salt and I had never removed them guess what would have happened to the truck in a few years. Even dirt and sand will hold moisture and eventually cause the truck to rust.

Just something to think about,

I put the Husky brand on mine. They come with tape to put on the paint where they could rub. Had them on this one about a year now and no problems. Had them on the truck before this one too. The 98 I had I put the ones from Mopar on it but they did not come with any tape for the paint back then.

I also have the Husky brand. They came with custom cut 3M clear film that is installed before the flaps. 4 flaps=20 minutes install time, 4 pieces of film-1 hr install time

Mud/Rock Guards

I also have the Huskys on my truck. They are very easy to remove for cleaning purpose's an do help with the rock chips (even though not a 100%) but I believe I would have a lot more chips in the paint if I did'nt have them. I guess for the 100% effectiveness from rock chipping would be the full length running boards, but not for me. Some trucks they look good on an some don't (JM0). Pull the guards off every so often an clean, I consider this part of the preventive maintence also.

Easy Fix

An easy fix on both mud flaps and fender flares is to run a thin bead

of black silicone in the gap. This will keep out the dirt and looks clean

also.

Had the molded flaps on my 2nd Gen and they DO wear through to the the metal. Mine were dealer installed, so I actually was able to get my dealer to remove them and re-paint the damaged areas.

I installed the dura flaps a couple weeks ago. pics in readers rigs. I would be wary of anything that would trap moisture and dirt = rust that won't be bad until the factory warranty is up. As to paint rub this is going to happen on any flap I have seen. The 3m clear tape is a great idea. Also using compressed air to blow out trapped water after washing.

I have the Genos rear mud flaps for my dually and i like them alot. I can believe how many chips you get w/o them! put on the mud flap tips and they look... ... . Diesel

I put the Factory ones on so that I wouldn't get a ticket. Jason's from NW Custom are the best hands down. Just look at Big Bobs, they may take awhile to get but well worth the wait.

Where do you get the "Huskeys" I have not found anything I like so far. Charlie

You can order them from Cabela's, I got mine from there. Also a lot of truck accessories places care them. Also have the Husky floor liners front an rear I really like them. I got the liners at Earl Owens Truck Accessories in Sherman, TX they also had the Husky mud guards.

I too just bought Huskyliner mudflaps for the Ram and Wife's Durango. I installed the durango's today and fit real nice. I looked at the Ram's and they look good too, especially the fronts where they hug the bottom of the fender. They do come with clear tape to protect the paint, but I ran outta time to get it done today.

I bought them from Summit Racing, They are the best- next to Geno's of course.
