Bought me a set of the molded mud flaps to put on. Had a set on my 2000 but it looks like they have change the mold. Haven't put these on yet and I think I will take them back. These don't fit like the ones I used to have:mad: Looks like the ones made my Husky are similar to the ones I had on 2000.

lschultz,

Were those the MOPAR flaps listed on the dodge.com website that were bad?

I was thinking of getting those but not if they don't fit well.

Thanks for the husky link.

I have the mopar mudflaps front and rear, they fit fine. Had em on my last truck for 5 years and they still looked pretty much new when I sold it.

Just my two cents on the molded mud flaps. I bought a set for my 1999 1500 4x4 sport from the dealer and then had them install them when I went in for service. I hated paying for that but I lived in an apartment at the time and didn't have the tools available to do it myself. Anyway, after they were installed, I could feel a vibration coming through the drivers side floor when I was traveling above 50mph on the highway. I didn't experience it before the mudflaps were installed so I checked them when I go home from work that night. The rear "lip" of the mudflap that comes in contact with the rocker panel below the door was rubbing back and forth from the wind and in a single days use, it had worn through the clear coat and into the paint. I laid a bead of silicone to hold the rear of the flap in place and that stopped the problem, however, I had to reapply the silicone approx every month. I could have cut the flap back, but I thought it would look like crap. Anyway, I have had crappy luck with the molded Mopar mudflaps. If you buy them (they look great), make sure to install them yourself and try to put something to prevent the rubber lip on the flap from contacting the rocker panels. I had no problems with the rear flaps. Just my experiences.

OHale they are the Mopar molded mud flaps. These have a chrome ram on the bottom of them. The ones I had on my 2000 were the Mopar molded mud flaps but there were solid black and they fit perfect. But these are different maybe they packaged up the wrong ones. It says they are molded mud flaps. But since I got the others comming next week I will take these back.

lschultz, thanks. I saw on the dodge.com accessories part of 'build your dodge' they have two different kinds of mud flap, the 'deluxe' and the HD rubber. Maybe you got the deluxe. I don't think I'd care for the chrome ram's head either.

I didnt know there were two varieties. I have the molded black ones on this truck and had them on the old ones. The fit is fine and never had a problem with any kind of movement.

Put the Husky molded mud flaps on yesterday(work of course). I wonder if Husky made the ones for mopar when I had my 2000. These look similar to the ones I used to have.

I went with the husky mudflaps too, and am very pleased. The only thing was I gave up on trying to put their clear plastic protector strip on the body because I couldn't get it to lay flat on the compound curves of the fender lip. But they're still great. And they look wider than the Mopars.

Question about the Husky's

What do the molded ones do for the large radius, where the wheel-well meets the body sides. The older style Huskys have a pretty sharp corner (as did the older trucks). Seems this would be a collection point for bad things? Have they made them to match the radius?

Also, are the rubber ones like an 18's? Or are they "contoured" - meaning cut-2-fit like the flat ones you see at a parts store?

Am thinking of going with the rubber (if they like NW's custom ones. Cost is another factor.

I'll try the Husky website, but has anyone heard of a no splash mud flap? Apparently they are a commercial grade and are ribbed. I have a set of the old style mopar's on my 99 but am lookin for some thing for my ordered 03 dually. Anyone have the Cummings flaps?

ordered 03 SLT QC HO 6spd LWB DRW 3. 73 Flame Red all the trimmings but the leather and heated seats.

Ben,

I got the rubber ones (front and back) when I ordered mine.

I'm quite happy with them: heavy enough (1/4") to stop rocks and not "sail".

Thanks RM for the info. Am still a "little" undecided as which ones to use, but would like to get the rubber as dont need the molded ones rubbing paint off. Still waiting build date (3-22 ordered), but may end up with a 04 at this rate. They may shut the line down before mine gets out of D1.

Maybe ifn someone could post the pics of the rubber ones mounted (frnt & rear) along with another posting pics of the molded (hint/hint).

Oh well, its worth the wait 'cept for driving the space shuttle... ... ... . :(
