Wow. .

This had to be one of the most underated southern rock bands of all times. Their live performances were almost as good as their album work and when you got a chance to see them it was well worth your money. One of the best shows I have ever seen live was Little Feat,them and The Outlaws closing. Molly Hatchet about stole the show from the Outlaws and when the grand finale came up the group joined the Outlaws for a 50 minute version of Green Grass and High tides which about brought down the roof of the old Spectrum in Philadelphia. Yeah man,in their time they made music to party too. I'll never understand why we can land a man on the moon,send spaceships to Mars and Venus but can not seem to find cures for diseases which take us away in our prime.

Molly Hatchet's version of the Allman Brothers' "Dreams I'll Never See" is one of my all time favorite songs.

I did a quick search of the internet and found conflicting news articles. One said he died from complications from pneumonia, and another said it was from diabetes.

Well, right now he's probably jammin' on that great stage in the sky with the members of Lynyrd Skynyrd who are no longer with us, and he's singing alongside Janis Joplin. Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix are probably there too, along with John Entwistle on the bass. Duane Allman is playing his slide guitar, and John Bonham and Keith Moon are probably both on the drums!

I agree 100%, awesome song. One more rock legend gone from us. When I saw the thread I thought "drugs" but it was diabetes. He will be missed!



I need to go buy their "Best Of" album again, mine is scratched up.

I was into Hatchet big in the late '70s/early '80s. I saw them 3 times in concert. I agree that they were an excellent band. The 3 talented guitarists helped make them something you just don't see in today's no-talent "bands" (with few exceptions). Yeah, Hammer - the Outlaws were one of my favs too. I saw them at least once - maybe twice (those days are a little "hazy"). I still listen to the Outlaws' "Bring 'Em Back Alive" album in my truck sometimes. I made that cassette off a friend's album in the late '70s - and I still use it.

Saw them live outdoors on the jettys of South Padre Island during spring break in 1985. Can't remember much of it though. Too many cervezas...
