Just got back from hunting trip to CO where we were 5 for 5 on wall hanger Mulies and 0 for 3 on elk. On the way out while still in MO pulling small 6x10 enclosed trailer, my brother's truck took a couple of fits where it lost power down low. Pulling away from a stoplight it took forever to accelerate and the turbo wouldn't spool up at all till about 1900 rpm's. Once it got about 2000 it would pick back up. It did this twice in about a 5 minute span then not again until 8 days later on the way back. No Codes. Any suggestions? The truck is an 01 HO with 4" exhaust, Bullydog 65 hp chip and Turbomaster boost controller. I was a little disappointed in mileage on the way out too, as this used to be my truck. We got about 12. 5 on the way out doing @72 mph pulling the trailer with about a 15mph head wind. On the way back we got around 19 with just coolers on the back and no trailer. One of my buddies pulled the trailer back with his Dmax. We were noticebly slower through the mountains as his truck is a dog below 2000, but he got 18. 5 mpg going out empty and @ 14mpg coming back with the trailer and no wind.

C'mon guys, I know someone out there has had a similar experience, I guess the right person hasn't read this yet. I was thinking maybe lift pump but wouldn't that set a code? Then I was thinking bad connection to the box somewhere but all connections seem to be good and corrosion free. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ok here's a guess. The most likely thing to cause the turbo not to spool up is no hot exhaust gas getting to the turbine wheel or the turbine/compressor shaft binding and not turning up to speed. I don't think there is a way for the gas to bypass the wheel except the wastegate but shutting the engine off with the turbo at excessive tempertures can cause the lube to coke up in the bearings and seize the shaft. bg
