nice, that's 2 days away. i wonder when they will become a common site on the road. i want my dealer to get some HO 6spd's so i can go for a test boot i am not too conserned about price when i get my 2004... . well, i do want a great price just like everyone else, but i will pay a little extra if i can get it from a dealer that offers me better service and are friendly and more likeable. . [the kind of place when you go in, you feel welcome. the kind of place you recomend to other people].



there are some sales guys walking around that think they know best and try to blow smoke up your ass. . i had that happen when i was at a ford dealer pricing out a f350 SD psd. i wanted 6spd and he kept saying that a manual doesn't work with a diesel, the slushbox is superior to the stick. . didn't like him much. he didn't like me much when i clued him in to all the highway trucks that almost all have stick's in then. that buddy should go back to selling his ford focus'

On Friday my dealer said 4 to 6 weeks. Boy I hope your dealer is right! I'm South of you in Pensacola. Last year DC brought cars and trucks into the Port of Pensacola. I work 5 blocks north of the port and will keep my eyes open.



To bad we can't start a pool on line. I'll take June 20, my 38th anniversary. I know the wife would like to order a 3500 HO for me.

Dealer pulled up the order list today, it didn't have the prices yet I was lead that they ordered one for a customer today. Money must have been no object.

I have found the best way to trade is to trade on the spread. Either a certain % over cost or a certain $ over cost. That way you really do not have to know the cost to the penny. The only wild card is the cost of the new options. The options that are on the 1500 would be about the same price as they would be on the real trucks. (IE power mirrors and dual zone AC). I would hate to find out at delivery that the SRW option was $2500. 00!!!

I even have done trade-ins with a dealer like this. You just need to agree on the milage per month till delivery and give them and "out" if you damage or go over the miles.

The sales manager is expecting a 1000. 00 to 1500. 00 increase over the 2002s. I wanted to load one up and then take off options untill I could afford it.

Ordering an '03?

Are you folks serious about ordering a 2003?



Wouldn't you rather wait till 2004 and let some other poor sap get stuck with all the first year problems?



Whomever is ordering a 2003 is a braver person than I, cause you'll probably wish you hadn't a year afterwards.

I don'y know which way i will go; 2002 or 2003. I would not be worried about first model year. I have a 91 f. . d explorer 1st model year and still have it today with 150,000 miles and still runs fine and never really had any major problems with it.

The money they are offering on the 2002's is amazing. $500. 00 if you visit the dodge web site. $500. oo for farm credit, $2000. 00 rebate on both leases and buys, $1000. 00 if your traiding in a lease on another lease, this could almost pay for the Engine option! Why wait for a 2003, just an EZ can give you more HP without worrying about "first year model jitters". I have to admit, I have a 98. 5 (bought in july 98) and did not have any jitters until I joined TDR

Of course that has not stopped yet, with all these stories about blocks cracking now adays.

Considering neither the truck and engine isn't exatcly new, I don't think the first year problems will be quite as bad as everyone thinks.

The truck body has beeni n service for over a year now in the half tons, and the engine, from what I've read, has been in use overseas for a couple of years as well. They just put the two together.

Besides, in 2004 all the Cummins engines will have an EGR sysem on them. The 2003's(except the CA models) won't.

I just ordered my 2003 2500 4x4 on monday and already it has been issued a vin and a build date of the second week in july. Anybody else want one?

2003 Models

I ordered my wife a new P T Cruiser G T yesterday. The dealer can order 2003 models but there is no pricing on them yet. You have to grin and bear it unless money is no object. I don't know when the pricing is going to come but if the new car I ordered is too much for me to handle since I am still paying for my truck, I will let them put the G T on the lot and order a Touring Edition Cruiser. The car had a vin already before 24 hours were up and the production date is the second week in July.



Just to let you know, I work for the dealerhip but I didn't ask if all models were availble for order, but I don't know why they wouldn't be. Most dealers want the new models on their lot as soon as they can get them shipped. The new models very seldom show up before the 1st of August though.

jeepit, It sounds like you have a salesperson that is in the dark. I personally ordered my truck on monday although there were no prices I figured it can't be more than 42,000 sticker (a 2002 loaded is about 40,000. My past experience with chrysler is you always want to be in at the begining when prices are the lowest. One example is my durango was about $700 less than a durango on the lot with the same equip. the differece is that my durango was built at the begining of the year and the other was built at the end. The people that wait till the 2004 comes out will probably pay I would guess close to 1,000 more than the first 2003's not to mention the drop in kelly BLUE BOOK value on the old body style (the old style is the current style in everyone's minds right now).

fatcat, What is there to be afraid of , the body style has been out for a year, body, frame and trans are the same, and the motor is only changed slightly,it sound like the only difference is the axles, and they have a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty, besides my moto is everything breaks, put a warranty on it.
