Ok, I know they aren't Bilstiens or Ranchos (although Monroe owns Rancho) but is anyone running these shocks? Are these worth considering. I do 70% empty highway, want a good ride but don't want to have to give my right arm to own them. Any input would be appreciated.

On my 2000 3500QC 4x4 I put Bilsteins on all 4 corners. Great ride and handling and it changed the truck "WOW". I run 90% unloaded and decided with my 2002 3500RC 4x4 to just go with Bilsteins on the front. Guess what great ride and handling (could not tell a difference between the truck with Bilsteins at all four corners versus just in the front). The front is where the problem is on these trucks. I am going to run the OEM shocks on the rear until I need to change them,(doubt that will happen). If I hauled a lot of heavy stuff I would go with the Bilsteins on the front and the adjustable Rancho 9000's on the rear. Save your money and just buy Bilsteins for the front and enjoy a great ride. The Bilsteins for the front of my truck cost me $65 each tax included at Autozone. Thats not a lot of money for the difference it makes in your truck driving experience.

Needless to say that we here in Canada are getting hosed. 2 places quoted me $93 Cdn taxes inc. just for the Monroes which is about $58 US. almost the same as Bilstiens. I was quote $143 US for Rancho 9000's. Are the Bilstiens Lifetime if you install yourself?

I have never had them on a truck but i put a full set (2 shocks & 2 struts) on a grand am, they were great, the reflex is actually a little stiffer than the other Monroe lines but like i said i never had any issues with them.

Yes they are lifetime warranty. You can buy them on the internet, the TDR has a special deal. Contact Bob Wagner he set it up and I think they are $55 a shock no taxes over the internet. I will see if I can find the site and post it.

can't help ya on the Reflex but I bought 4 Rancho RS5000 for $36 bucks a piece and free shipping. 90% of the time unloaded too. Works for me.

So your recomendation would be just to do the fronts? I have 75k miles on the truck.

BFC, Were did you get the 5000 for that kind of price?

Can anyone give an opinion of Bilstein vs Rancho 5000 ?

Many thanks, Cheers

I would do the fronts first and see how it felt. If the rears are not leaking and you don't run with a big load I would think they would be OK. I mean these rear shocks are there to handle what 3000 lbs of cargo?? They should be good for half that amount forever or until they might leak. Now the fronts are a different story, the front of our trucks carry 4-5000 lbs. all of the time. I would compare the Rancho 5000's to the Bilsteins like comparing a Porsche (Bilstein) to a Yugo (Rancho) :(

I have the Reflex shocks and like them. My problem was when hitting a dip in the road and throwing the back end up, The front would flop around too much too. These stock shocks just dont seem to last 140,000 miles. The reflex,s made a big difference. I would like to have the Bilstiens but for half the money the Reflex work great. Also lifetime warranty

Don't drive a Porshe but I did hook up my 9K fiver and towed it 2000 miles over the holidays and was real happy with the results. I was told Rancho's 5000 are like 9000's set on 2 or 3, FWIW. Got them here http://www.central4wd.com/

I was real happy with them on my 93. Also, Monroe is very good about warranty replacements. I swapped them out every 30K (like the salesman suggested) and they never asked any questions!
