Competition Opinions/info wanted...

Off Roading SNAP goes the tow strap... (video)

5 pages long, and still no info about where to get it, how much power it makes or can support (dyno numbers, not speculation), and no info where to get one!! Or can it daily drive? Also how big of a lift pump and fuel line does it need? Does the stock fuel filter housing have to go? Can you run a timing box with it, or does it add enough timing by itself? Is a cam needed? Does it idle without stalling or shaking the truck?

IN the computer industry, it's called "vaporware"... :-laf :-laf

Others call it "smoke and mirrors"... :D

Looks like he had plenty of fuel :-laf

No kidding there.

That truck pulled that sled like no tomorrow... . alot faster than any truck there that night. Not to mention he put 13' on my truck (I was 2nd behind his) and about 20' on the rest of the pack which were all built pulling trucks.

So much power he pushed a cup plug out at the end of the pull and snapped the rear end (you can hear it on the video).

These pump (s) are for real.

What pump he is running I have no idea, but end of last year his truck was one of the best running street trucks in the area.

From what I hear it will be awile befor these pumps are commerically marketed if ever. A very small amount of these pumps are out there now. I bet less than 10. As far as what you need to have to run one, Ive heard a big injector is one thing and an aux fuel supply pump.

id like to get my hands on a stage 2... but not for $1800 :(

i've been thinking about offering up my HRVP44 for a trade with an SO pump and some cash.

i was dumb enough to pay $1600 for a HRVP44... i wouldn't be dumb enough to pay $2100 or $2800 for a pump that is prone to failing just like the other ones.

unless it comes with a 100,000 mile, unlimited time period warranty for full replacement if it fails... its not worth it to me. unless this thing will make 100 more hp alone, its not worth it TO ME because it would cost me another $1200 for mach 7's, $700 for cam to help the motor breathe and figure $2500 for a twins setup... them im in another $7200 for a 100-150hp gain, and still the same old vp44 problems.

10-4 on the well worth it. VERY lopey idle and mega amounts of fuel and my injectors aren't very big. If you like the even idle of a stock truck then this upgrade will NOT be for you. Expensive but truly delivers the stuff. Mine is a stage 2. Fed by a fass 150. I also notice about 1. 5 mpg better fuel economy too. A smarty is almost useless, as this pump already does timing and loads of fuel. I tried the smarty on level 9 and it is barely streetable cuz moving the throttle 1/4 inch will pour smoke and gain speed wildly. Not very town friendly either!!! (I was told Installing a stage 1 pump on a stock truck adds around 100hp. )

and a p-pump conversion is going to cost you close to the same if not more--

but you get p-pump reliability and maybe a tuning nightmare, although they seem to be getting that dialed in more and more---

but maybe these new VP's will be reliable, but it's to early to tell until more get put out into the mainstream and get some time on them---

stage 1 & 2 have been on daily driven trucks since last summer--almost a year now, so that bodes well----chris

any way to get a video of the way these things idle?

for me i dont see it being worth it tho. im currently in the 550-575 range, my turbo is keeping me below 1400* now. so assuming my turbo actually has a little room left to grow (ie its not pegging 1600 in a matter of seconds, and no smoke at full boost) i just dont think a stage 2 pump alone is gonna get me 100hp.

but if i could afford one i would buy it and get some dyno time and run them back to back same day same dyno to see the gains. if i liked it then GREAT, but if not then i could sell it or send it back.

the stage 2 has been dyno'd and it got 97hp over a stock pump with just the pump change--HTT64/7x19 injector and bigger crossovers---no electronics on either run is what has been stated on another site----chris

So what is the point?, we just did a back to back run with a stock vp out of a SO truck and a HRVP same day runs (March 07) with Schieds lighting injectors, and a PS62 no box on and the jump was 127hp.

I have sitting here for some time watching this thread. So far I am with the others, I believe there is some smoke and mirrors going on here. With knowing the VP inside and out and what is available from BOSCH there is just no way. I hate to be a poor sport about this, but unless someone has a couple of copies of some test stuff there is just no way. So please flatter me as to what is being done and by whom... ... ... to many secrets with the he said they said stuff. I mean Gus, do you really know what has been done to the pump? I mean really?

Spicy Jam--so it was just a pump exchange that netted this difference??? was the original VP in good working order or on it's way out?? any other things fixed between pump changes?? not trying to be a pain here, but I think it's legit to ask all pertinent questions so everyone is all on the same page---the #'s I posted above were from just a pump change and nothing more according to the originator of the info----

only a few guys know the guy who's doing the pump work and they're not talking as of yet---I only know what I've read and talking to quite of few people and digging deep, but I still don't know who is making the pump---I know it's a small shop and that there's new electronics involved--I believe the guy is doing some internal stuff that's one off stuff, but again I can't be 100% sure--- he will be found out very soon as a few of these pumps are out there in various stages and reports will come forth, but with the places selling them I have a hard time believing it's all smoke and mirrors, but we will see---it also may be that the pumps full potential isn't being seen with the trucks set up that have dyno'd---I've been given different info on how to set up the truck, so I'm leaving that for each person to talk to the vendor about--- our best bet for legit info is AFarmer and GDMRTN it seems --I should have one very soon in my hands and I'll post my findings as soon as I can legitimately back them up--but I too have some truck work to accomplish before she gets slapped in to action--I just hope it's what it seems and yes I've takin a leap of faith--been a long time since I laid my wallet on the line for something this controversial -----chris
