Has anyone out there in TDR Land installed one of the Mopar bug deflectors for the 3rd Gen. trucks? If so, how effective has it been at deflecting the grubby bugs, and is it any effective at deflecting stones, etc?

From the looks of it, I find it difficult to believe that it could be very effective as it seems so small, but looks can be deceiving.

Also, it is my understanding that it just plugs into some holes under the hood, is this correct?

Final ? - worth the ninety bucks?

Thanks in advance,

Bryan

Looks are deceiving, it works great and for my 90 bucks it was worth it. I have the bright silver to match my truck. It is very easy to put on (4 screws) if you forgot to order one.

They call it a front hood protecter instead of a bug shield and that name has some merit because it could save you from stone damage, mine has picked up a couple of small nicks that would have been on the hood or windshield otherwise. I seem to remember that you could order the shield from parts and it was $10 cheaper than the factory install. I am pretty sure that we paid $80 for the one that I ordered for my son's HEMI.

Also did the dealer ones (hood & fender) but that was because I wanted Black ones. After installing the hood one I drilled 2 holes for one-way screws and used the "locking" nuts on them. Prevents loss due to theft. You could probably just replace 2 of the regular screws with the one-ways but thought that more would be better in this case.

AND another problem that I found - if you install the fender shields, take the lites out and make sure you put the shields as far up as possible on the fender edge. I just stuck them on and then had to remove them to get the lites out. They hung a little too low and the top of the headlite units wouldnt clear them.

SOTSU!!

Well you guys sold me on one. I went out today and picked up a white one (to match my truck) from the dealer today. They wanted $75 for it. Now I got a really cool looking bug deflector, but no truck to put it on! The dealer says that my truck finally shows up in 7-10 days. Can't wait!

Just an observation, but I ordered the hood and fender protectors, window vent visors, running boards, bed prtectors ..... yadda yadda for a couple of reasons.

1st you get the warranty to go along with it.

2nd because you get the little "Ram" logos

3rd it was really no more expensive than the local detail shop

4th ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . I guess I am lazy, LOL
