Can anyone confirm the Mopar fan belt part number?
I have in hand part number: 53041138AC
Truck info: 2005 3500, with AC, NV-5600, 4WD.
The belt I have caused me concern and am not sure if it is the correct one. When I compared this one to the factory one that I took off the truck it does not seem to fit properly at the pulleys. The width is fine, but the respective grooves and ribs do not seem right. The stock original appeared to have correct depth grooves as well as a type of cross-cut pattern.
This new one did not have the cross pattern and it seemed as if the top of the ribs were sorta' flat when compared to the one I removed. I placed the new one against a grooved pulley (as a "test fit") and it did not seem to "seat" in term of matching belt to pulley grooves. The belt appeared to ride atop the corresponding pulley grooves rather than fitting in it. I did not install the new one and opted to return the original one in the truck until I confirm this is the correct belt replacement.
Does what I describe make sense? Will the belt "seat" itself into the grooves within a few miles after install?
WOW! R&R'ing that belt 'aint easy! I wanted to replace the belt as part of preventative maintenance. Now that I know how to do it, hopefully the new belt going in will be manageable. I replaced the thermostat and upper radiator hose... I might have the dealer do the lower on a future oil change. Sliding under with a creeper is good for some task, but the lower hose does not seem all that easy.
But... any help on confirming will move me along on this chore.
Thanks.
