:( It's coolant & hose changing time. Upper and lower radiator hoses, along with the thermostat, are cheap enough. Then I got a quote for the three 90* turn, 5/8" short hoses in the coolant/trans. heat exchanger circuit. Dealer wants $58. 02 each! I checked with Geno's, NAPA, and other parts houses and was told they are only available from MOPAR. Tell me it ain't so! I even used the generic hose catalog @ NAPA and looked for any 5/8" 90* turn hoses of any length that I could shorten. No luck!

Anybody have a better source for these hoses? The MOPAR part number is 4429812.

Thanks... .....

If you decide to go with OEM, try a different dealer.

I bought the 90deg 5/8 hoses from the local Bumper to Bumper for I think $9esh each a month ago. I'll see if I still have the receipt with numbers.

Thanks for the help! I hate to be reamed by the dealers. The counter man suggested muffler bearings be replaced. I wonder how much those are.

I can't find the slip for Part No. or Prices. But I got my heater 90's and Jiggle Pin hose from Cummin's. It's been awhile but I'm sure it was under $30. I don't have the Auto Cooler so I don't know about those. Check with Cummin's They ship if your not close to one.

I bought MrBob's also, but haven't changed out my coolant hoses yet. I'm thinking of doing that here in the next month or so.

As already suggested, try a different Dodge dealer too -

I was surprised to see that I had three different prices quoted to me for a new APPS for my truck. There was almost $100 difference between the highest and lowest prices quote to me - from different Dodge dealers!!!

you might try to cut down the hoses that go from the heater core to engine they are 90 degree and 5/8. just cut off the excess. 55036506-ab list price 3. 34 they are both the same number

Go back to the dealer and look closer at the exploded view showing the hoses. I think he made the same mistake my dealer parts guy did... very poor pics... and quoted you for a METAL section used on the automatic trans trucks. I think I paid about $12 each when we figured out the correct hoses. If I can find the receipt I'll post it here.

you where only joking in saying that he didn't actually say that did he?

Yeah... ... the muffler bearings comment was a joke. I hate to think of the number of uninformed souls that end up buying parts they don't need at the suggestion of the parts counterman. Just going to the dealer, for any reason, makes my skin crawl!

Just for the info... ..... I refused the overpriced hoses @ the dealer and found a 5/8", 90* turn generic hose @ the parts house that was a bit too long. I used their generic hose catalog to get a match. I just need to cut them down a bit for them to fit. Cost? $9 a pop. A little better than $58+ each from the dealer. Now I can afford those muffler bearings!
