How are the Amsoil Nanofiber air filters doing?

Synthetic motor oil viscosity

I was at walmart the other day and say that they carry mopar brand oil filters for the 5. 9. I think that I heard some where that fleetguard and the mopar filters are the same. Is that true? I have always used feeltguard filters but I have to order them from genos and wait to get them. My local cummins shop has the fleetguard filters for 20. 00 each. #@$%! Which is a joke.

Yeah, back in the day the story was they were Fleetguard, but not the Stratapore media. Who knows what the China influence may have today.....

I'd email Fleetguard if it was me.

The 03 and newer CTD use Fleetguard LF3972 or the stratapore is LF16035. You can use LF3959 or LF3894 from the 24 V engines if you wish. They don't have the flutes on the bottom of the filter housing, and are usually cheaper. Shadrach

Just saw these today and wondered the same thing. They were labeled Mopar and stated made in USA but I wondered if they were stratopores or not, my guess is not for 10 bucks. We'll see.

Like everything else at Wally's from the WalMart only Wrangler Jeans to the WalMart BFG's, the filters are probably a cheapened version made just for them. It would be nice to get an official word from someone. If the part numbers were exactly the same, then it would be same (I assume).

As far as I know the Mopar filter has always been made by Fleetguard (Cummins engine contract). TDR magazine has covered this before try issue 30. The Mopar filters are cellulose not the stratapore filter.

Wal-Mart is cheaper than the dealer and it is the same Mopar part number as I have been buying them for about 6 months now.

I bought one from Wallmart in Silver City,New Mexico. First time I had seen that. I was surprised that it said Mopar. It says on the packaging that its application is for the 5. 9 and 6. 7. and that it is made in the good ole USA.

Always nice to find another source for parts'

Mike

Are you guys kidding, walmart the king of all cheap and generic. If walmart is selling it, something's up. My local napa likes to brag that their filters are made by wix, a good filter. Well they might be, but not to the same standards. Cut them both apart, with the same numbers, one's made to napa standards and the other to wix, you can see the difference. Can you imagine a filter made to walmart standards. Good luck

Anyone else have any input on these Mopar filters. I figure thats what the dealer's have been using for years. Only the markup $$$$$ is a little higher.

What do you think?

Mike

I think I'd never - EVER - put a filter from Wally World on my engine. "Fleetguard Stratapore's all I've ever used". With an occasional WIX when I couldn't get to the Cummins shop on time.

well her's news for all you MADE IN AMERICA folks... ..... Fleetguard is in the process of moving a major portion of their filter manufacturing plants to where else? Mexico!!! More American jobs going south. FYI... Baldwin filters are made in America and work great on my Dodge.

I just picked one up today at Wall-mart. Here's what I see

The box:

>Has Mopar and Cummins logos

>Also Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep logos

>Part#'s MO-285 and 1-05083285AA

>Distributed by Chrysler Motors LLC

> made in U. S. A.

The filter:

>Dark gray in color

>Same logos and part#'s as stated above

>Made in U. S. A.

Good price $10 and some change. Now if they would carry Rotella I would not have to run all over town just to do an oil change.

My local Wal-Marts have stock air filters that are fram but no Mopar fuel or air filters. It seems that at least around here only select stores carry the Mopar oil filters for the CTD not every one.

The Mopar filters sold at Walmart are genuine Mopar filters. Mopar Cummins filters are repainted Cellulose (paper) Fleetguard filters. Not Stratapore filters. Baldwin filters are Cellulose (paper) also.
