Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Mopar Performance Nerf (step) Bars

I own a 2001, Quad Cab, 2500, 4X4. I have purchased a set of Mopar Performance step bars. I want Mopar Perfromance bars because I liked the looks of the mounting system and to keep the truck all Mopar. The directions given with the bars seem to be confusing and actually, incomplete.



Does anyone have any experience in installing these type of step bars and is there any information that you can pass on to make this job easier? Should I take it to the Dodge dealer to be sure it is done right? The bars have a "4 point" mounting system that will require drilling into the "pinch weld" at the bottom of the cab, that alone makes me nervous! Any ideas!

Mopar nerf bars

Bob, I have them... matter fact just took them off to get coated.

You will need a second person to help hold the bars up when mounting them, small bottle of primer and touch up paint. I dont have my directions in front of me but will read them tonight and let you know. Do not have dealer install them, they follow the directions just like you, why pay someone to do the same thing. Unfortunately you dont live nearby or I would lend a hand. One things for sure is they are very stout when bolted up. Keep the hardware removed for future use, just in case you decide to remove them.
