Just did my first transmission fluid change and installed the MOPAR performance pan and filter with block spacer. Almost as much fun as the first engine oil and filter change. Had to grind off part of a solenoid bracket as noted in an old post. Had to replace all the pan bolts because of the thicker aluminum pan - luckily had some on hand. But the most aggravating thing was that the original filter bolts (2 1/2") were too short to accomodate the filter spacer and the bolts that came with the spacer were even shorter (2").
Most of you probably use the Mag-Hytec pan and they probably supply replacement pan bolts but did any of you have to replace the filter bolts also? Or do I just have a rare collector's item valve body with extremely countersunk bolt threads? The threads are at least 2" up in the holes and appear to only have about 1/2" of thread before bottoming out.
About the only good thing is that both the pan and filter bolts had std threads. But try to find a 3/16 x 24 x 3 1/4" or 3 1/2" bolt in your local hardware store, or in SW Wyoming, any store. I made do by grinding off a couple of common slot head 4" screws and was later able to order a couple of hex head bolts from Fastenal but very aggravating that kit didn't provide long enough bolts with the filter spacer. Dealer didn't have any either.
