Does anyone know anything about the 1988 "302" casting swirl port heads? I would like to know if they came with the 1. 88" intake valves or did they only come with the 1. 78" size?

I will be putting them on a 318 and have heard conflicting info on the valve size. I have a set with the 1. 78" valve and was wondering if I would benefit by finding a set with 1. 88" or have my current (1. 78") ones refitted with the larger size.

Any information on this will be greatly appreciated. :)

You would be better off to run the 308 head off the 360 from 88 to 91, better intake and ex. ports, larger port window at the int. manifold also.

I have built 318's with 1. 88 J heads. It was the 273 that needs a notch in the block to use big valves.

I recall a move to unshroud the intake when using larger valves in these swirl heads. I don't know too much about the modern heads, but if the port sizes are all the same (unlike 318 vs. 360 heads) then have the seats done in your heads.
