Mopar Sirius Radio

I'm contemplating adding the Mopar Sirius Radio update to my '03 CTD because it integrates with the factory radio so easily. The one thing holding me back is the antenna install. I'm not too keen on drilling large holes in the roof of the cab for the antenna. Terk makes a magnetic/adhesive mount antenna for the Sirius system. Has anyone done a Mopar Sirius install using an antenna other than the Mopar antenna that requires drilling? What has been your experience?

I installed the Sirius antenna where you drill the hole. I was nervous at first, but it's really no big deal. Just make sure you seal the edges of the hole. With the magnetic mount, how do you run the wire in the cab? Oo.

i have sirius radio with a terk sirmini antenna which is magnetic there is no way i'm drilling holes into a $40,000 truck especially on the roof anyways i ran the wire thru the third brake light be sure and silicone around the wire otherwise it will leak you don't need much silicone either. then run your wire to the factory mopar sisius box keep in mind you will need the splitter in order for it to work the mopar sirius is two wires to the antenna the terk sir mini is one wire.

I used the big Mopar antenna that came with the kit, but I just sat it in the far left corner of my dashboard. There are no exposed wires and it requires no adhesive, cutting, or modifications of any kind. Reception has been no problem, and you can't see the antenna from the passenger side. I figured if I didn't like that location I could always go to drilling holes in my roof later. I would give this spot a try if I were you before you make any permanent changes to your truck.

I tore out the interior, marked the roof with the Mopar installation template, drilled a small pilot hole then got out the UNI bit and drilled away. POR 15 on the exposed metal, cleaned area like instructions said and stuck antenna thru hole and NO PROBLEMS so far..... knock on wood... ... same with friends 04. 5 did same thing... ... DO NOT use a regular hole saw though. The DO NOT drill nice clean holes. USE a UNI_BIT... ALso take out B-pillar trim (Center door trim between doors) so headliner drops down lower, no chance of drilling thru headliner then. I also had vacuum thru rear window to suck up metal shavings as it was drilled... ..... DON"T BE AFRAID... . The FORCE WILL BE WITH YOU..... or something like that

It's not that I'm afraid to drill, I've done it lots of times before. I am concerned about the viability of Sirius and/or XM though. Neither company has yet to make money. Both are surviving only on large infusions of cash from their respective OEM's. There is also talk of a merger between Sirius and XM, in which case only one "standard" is likely to survive. Knowing my luck like I do, I'm just afraid that I will drill and install the Mopar antenna and sure as the sun rises, Sirius will go belly-up the next day! If I can find a way to mount the antenna on the roof without drilling, then if something does happen, I can remove it woith no harm done.

I have the XM radio add on kit in my new 04. 5 and had same kit in my 97 RAM. For both I mounted the antenna on top of the dash inside the cab at the base of the winshield. Used the sticky tape that came with the antenna. Both worked fine no problems. I just ran the wire around the dash in the space between the dash and the winshield. You might try it there first before you drill.

Get yourself a Magnet mount and be done! Remove the two screws on the third brake light and run the cable throught the brake light hole. across the top headliner and down the side piller behind the plastic.



I will never listen to FM again!



Satellite Radio is the best thing since the round wheel.

sirius makes a splitter because the factory mopar unit requires two wires for the antenna the new magnet antenna comes with only one wire(made for easy routing of the wires) there fore you need the splitter which will put two wires into one the splitter costa about $20 i got mine at crutchfield

I have had holes drilled in the roof of my last two trucks for the cell phone antenna and have never had any problems. I really do not see that much difference between the antenna hole and the ones for cab lights. Big difference between the performance (better) than the old rear window mount. My truck's antenna gives far better performance than my wife gets with her uconnect in her 300C.

I used a magnetic mount that i put just off of my cab lights, installed in 5 minutes, look factory, no holes, just tell tehm you do not want to install the factory antenna and buy a car kit at any store (circuit city is where I got mine) and you are good to go have any questions feel free to message me.

Where can I get the set up

I just heard on my XM radio that Sirius bought the Nascar channel as of 2007. So I need to find a Sirius system that works with my 2004 RBQ radio. Any help Id be grateful.

Do it the way I did. I used the magnet mount that came with my sirius radio, as I went aftermarket. Ran the antenna wire through the 3rd brakelight, into the cab, down the headliner, to the a pillar, then down the A pillar to the back of the satellite radio reciever. You don't even know the antenna is there.

I have an '02 and have had Sirius radio since I boutht the truck new. My antenna is mounted on the roof about 3" in front of the 3rd brake light. The wires run back into the top of the light opening. I thought this was an ideal install as there was no drilling. However, the antenna wires are very fine and crimping them against the body with the brake light lens has on several occasions cause the metal to rub through the inulation on the wire and ground out leaving me with no satellite reception.



It's taken me a couple tries but I used a file to make a little notch inside the brake light opening so the wires don't have to make such a tight turn. That, some electrical tape and silicone sealant, I haven't had any more problems.



And I love having the satellite radio. I just renewed for a 3rd year.

I also installed the antenna on the dash. The reception seems to be pretty good for now.

Magnetic Mount Antenna ???'s

I'm looking at purchasing this Blaupunkt Sirius Satellite Radio setup for use in both my 2003 RAM 2500 and 2001 Dodge Neon :

The "RAZ" AM/FM/Cassette/CD stereo in my 2003 RAM 2500 has a mode button, which means I won't have to use the FM Modulator for the audio... I can connect straight to the auxillary input in the back of the "RAZ" stereo. My 2001 Dodge Neon does not, so it will have to be FM modulated, but I'm OK with that, as it's the daily driver anyway. I'll be buying an extra install kit for the second vehicle.



The main question is the magnetic mount antenna... . My 2003 RAM 2500 is equipped with the overhead trip computer...compass, outside temperature display, distance to empty, avg mpg, elapsed time, yada yada. How much will the magnetic mount satellite antenna adversely affect the compass feature of the truck ?
