What did it set you back and how hard was it to install ?

1985 DODGE 1 ton Crew Cab(imported from California with no rust) W/8' box converted to 4X4(wasn't that hard to do!) in 1999,converted to a 1991 Cummins Turbo diesel & 5 speed Getrag in 2000(wife can't drive a stick :). 4:10 gears, limited slip rear end, 205 transfer case, 16" Goodyear GSA Wranglers and LE Package and a Sony CD Stereo. A one of a kind truck(Wish Dodge would build a new Crew Cab in 1 ton. Last year for the Crew Cab was 1985)If you want to know why I did all of this, 2 kids, one on the way and I can't stand Ford and Chevy. Kyle Hoover ,Fruitport, MI

I tried a Dodge dealer to find a tach. They said it wasn't available anymore. Do you have a part number?

Not anymore. I threw it away. Do a search on the TDR. One of the members posted the number for me about 2 weeks ago. Good luck.

Good buy, I paid I think $230 installed. I thought it was well worth it. I can't imagine a diesel without one.

Where does this tach get mounted and where does it get its signal from?
Sounds like it's a discontinued item generally but maybe there's a few floating around random dealer shelves perhaps?????

I have tried the local dealers and ran a trace, no luck anywhere for the 89-91 as it needs a wiring harness, finally located another source, will let everyone know if they are the same as the mopar tach. Supposed to come with wiring harness and brackets.
Will pick it up this week. To fit 91 W350.

The tachs are still listed in the 2000 Mopar Performance Catalog.
The tach signal originates from the engine speed sensor on the outside of the harmonic balancer. It then goes to the engine control module that feeds the signal to the wiring harness that connects to the tach.

I agree they are still listed but on backorder by some 30 people, but have been cancelled as there are no more in stock and will not be made anymore. Per dealer in Escondido ,CA. I had been on the waiting list
for some 2 months, when I checked and got my money back. Will post when I get my new one.

Just checked with my local Mopar parts guy and his computer says the part number is good but the part is no longer available.
Anybody know of another tach that uses the OE wiring? What is a good substitute?

Finally received notice that my tach was in, what a disapointment, Isspro gauge with magnets you have to GLUE to vibration dampener. I left it at the dealer.
Need to find original set up # 82201051.
If anyone locates one and wants to sell it please let me know. Will look at piece mealing one if I can locate a tach.

As a proud new owner of a 93 club cab and a recent TDR subscriber, I decided to try to find one of these factory tachs. I managed to find several avaiable @ out of state dealers and found one who sold it to me for wholesale($80). It's a really nice piece and it was easy to install. It has two studs in the base and mounts through the dash just to the left of the furthest left instrument bezel screw. The toughest part of the whole install was searching for and fishing out the harness which is buried behind the dash. My only negative comment is that I think the lighting is a little dimmer than the dash light. (Maybe a brighter bulb can be installed???) I still have the phone #'s to several dealers that had the tachs in stock, so if someone needs the info, just e-mail me and I'd be glad to relay the info,

My tach doesn't use the factory harness, but is wired to the alternator for speed signal. Don't ask me how, I didn't wire it but the tach is made by Motorola and has a built in hour meter. I can disassemble to find #'s if necessary.

I put the ISSPRO 2" tach in last weekend. No problem, plugs into the existing connector under the dash on the 92. I thought the 93 also had this connector, but I'm not certain.

No "sensors" are supplied in the kit below - just the necessary connectors to fit to the Dodge connector under the dash.
