Cummins Ram HP Dyno Shootout... . Saturday March 21st at 9am. .

Hmmm.....

I wonder why with this being in the "hotbed" for some of those proclaimed high HP rides and alot of the big-time diesel vendors this is being completely overlooked.

Man think of it,national media coverage, plenty of righteous Mopars and the High HP Cummins rides in front of the national magazines and their audiences. This is where anyone who can make it ,could make some national magazine noise for themselves and the others who would like to see more of our trucks get recognition. I tried at Carlisle a few years ago and will try again this year. Magazine writers seem to think of our trucks being ''old mens" rides and not performance enhanced or motivated...

So where are the West Coasters and their BIG rides at and who is going to go spank the jet there?. This would be a good place for "Sickly" to slip into unnoticed and show the national magazines what straight #2 power really is all about... ... ... ... . Andy

I plan on attending.

Why is it that everyone from the West has to always prove something to those from the East?

Make your power and move on. In the end, no one really cares who does what anyway.

Keith...

Why is it that you have an axe as big or bigger than ours on something like this?. This thread was started because I did not see ANY other mention of this shootout posted here on this site. I am sorry that I used "Sickly" as a example but other than Joe in the area who else makes power and could gain these trucks the national attention they deserve??????????????. I do believe I mention "West Coasters" also on who was coming. I was asked by one of the media people I have contacts with to see if there is or was any interest from the ''Big Guns" ,as he noticed thru surfing, that the event was not posted here. I thought maybe a little exposure would help, but,I can see you feel otherwise.

Guess that was my mistake and I should have not even posted this. For the record,it didn't matter to me who went or what power is made, just so someone tries so maybe exposure can be gained. Imagine to the HP diesel industry(since we all know its still in its infancy) what benefits can be gained thru a event or events such as this, but,as you say no one really cares what is done or who makes it. This was something that was going to be tried at some of the other national Mopar shows also. As a vendor I do not understand how you could even make a comment like that, but again its your choice and could be your loss later, not mine.

For those who asked. .

The show is at ''The Strip" at Las Vegas Motor Speedway(my brain fart on not posting the place) and I hope those who go have a good time. I only wish that time off could have been had so I could have come out for this show. The people I know who went last year brought back nothing but praises. This show has the makings of becoming as big as Carlisle and Columbus. Have fun gang... ... ... . Andy

Andy, maybe it's because of posts that start off with condecending wording like "Hmmm.....

I wonder why with this being in the "hotbed" for some of those proclaimed high HP rides and alot of the big-time diesel vendors this is being completely overlooked. "

To me, that's a blatant slap or "calling out". "Proclaimed high HP rides" and "big-time diesel vendors" in the same paragraph as "So where are the West Coasters and their BIG rides at " really puts a sarcastic spin on the whole thing.

As usual, doesn't matter what anyone has done in the past, it's never good enough. So why should we even try? We just do what is fun for us, whether the rest of ya hear about it or not.

Any you didn't make any mistakes... say what you want... I'll do the same.

this place is reminding me more and more of The Diesel Place, and those other forums that you say something and get ragged on, or you say something just to stir up *****. IMHO you all need to grow up and get back to where this place was three or four years ago.

Its stuff like this that is causing people to leave and me not want to keep my membership current.

Keith... .

So you can get a better understanding on this I'll make it simple and easy. It did or doesn't matter to me who, where, what truck, driver, owner, business attends. I WILL also call out the big hitters on the East Coast,as I have already tried once before(you can check with some of them I did try to line up as many then as I could),to try and make it happen again(that is if it happens now). This has NOTHING to do with sarcasm(except for what you and Gary interjected)but has everything to do with opportunity. You see opportunity is what those of us who make the sacrifices to go to shows which are Non-TDR sponsored to try and make so we can try to get a magazine shoot. There is life outside of here, but, other than a issue of Truckin Magazine(the Bully-Dog event) and Mopar-Muscle's one paragraph of Jetpilot's slick black bottle rocket there is not much diesel interest for anyone to have even a remote chance for a shoot. The only way to open the media's eyes is to show them what these rides are capable of,then maybe while they are wandering amongst us in show fields country wide they may, just may, think of that tricked out diesel rig for a shoot and not just as a old mans tow vehicle. We have a good example out here of a guy who one of the slickest 4 bagged 4x4's in the country complete with all the trimmings and all the magazines just walk right by. If you would ever ask any of the media people they will tell you that diesels are boring and won't sell magazines,I say BULL.

As usual, doesn't matter what anyone has done in the past, it's never good enough. So why should we even try? We just do what is fun for us, whether the rest of ya hear about it or not.

Never good enough... .

Well seems to me like I'd even disagree with that. How many shows do you do or go to, diesel related, that guys are chatting about the big power trucks from the west and ways to work together to top them, any?. I can tell you Maddog's Halfbreed is and has been the subject of many local shows and street races I have been to out here and guys are working diligently to try and top him(thats what being the top dog means, guys working to top him and he has to work to try and stay one step ahead). You crack me up actually, read into it what you wish and flame me as you see fit I will again say it does not bother me and of all people you know it. Keep doing the work for yourselves, just remember there are those of us who would love to see more national exposure for these trucks and more magazine time for something other than a slammed or lifted gasser. It truly is a shame a vendor has feelings like this and has no interest in trying to help those who wish get to the next level, thats your loss not ours.

I will part with this...

Good luck to all who attend this meet and others like it or participate in the show fields across the nation. Its a sad day when a vendor of products for our vehicle's says shows like this mean nothing to them. To me its about the same as saying all that matters to us is sales.

And to Mark...

I agree completely and think its time for me to take a leave of absence after this and stick to looking thru my quarterly magazine,Its alot less stressful. If anyone else would have posted this event worded the way I did they would not have received the same comment or treatment... ... ... ... Andy

{ throws a bucket of water on the crowd }

Let's calm down guys. Things can easily be misinterpreted with the written word. Try and give everyone the benefit of the doubt and look for the best in every post and this will be a much happier place.

Hopefully there will be a few people attend this meet to get the message out!

Andy, if all you are doing is trying to promote an event, then more power to ya. The way you worded your information sure sounded like a call out to me. Maybe that's because we have had the "proclaimed high HP" trucks and live in/near the "hotbed" where this event is taking place.

I certainly agree that more publicity for the turbo diesel performance market will only help it's popularity and help it grow. I'm sure we'll see more of this in the coming months.

Unfortunately, I don't have a truck right now or I'd go just to go. I can say that a lot of people at our local track (LVMS that is hosting this event) knows who WE are and what we have done a while back.

BTW, what other information do you have on the event itself? Other than the date I mean... do they have a who/where/when on this dyno event?

I can't believe you guys managed to get into trouble without me!

Andy has went out of his way to promote Diesel trucks, events to the rest of world.

And Keith, you and I both know that a "race" won last week, is just that, last weeks news!

Not with Muncie, however.

A Muncie win, especially back to back, lasts forever!!!!

LOL!!

Man, might as well lock the thread now that Gene is here! :)

GTX, thanks for the link. Does say "dyno pull off" but not where it is. Will they have their own dyno there or are they using Mike's from Silver State since he's in the complex?

Keith,

From what I understand from reading the web site, they have a place on site at the track "roped off" for the dyno pull off.

I am gunna try realy hard to get down there for the race.

How big of a "gun" does one need to bring to this? I'm not the biggest or fastest out there, but I'm pretty accurate with it... :D

Lets get as many of us as we can and go and show off what a 7000# diesel truck can do!I sure some of the gassers will be pretty impressed to see how fast they are. HP don't matter, fun is what it's about! If I get my race car back together it will also be up there. Last year was a blast, this year should be a lot better and a lot bigger turnout!
