I did a search of the forums and got some good info on the Edge EZ, but had a couple more questions. Is it NECESSARY to do any additions modification (like high-flow air filter and/or muffler) to use in conjunction with the Edge EZ? I would think that the extra horses would raise the EGTs. Next, the Edge web site at http://www.edgeproducts.com/dodge_ISBE.html says that you can "set the unit to zero for heavy towing without having to unplug the module". My truck has plenty of power unloaded. The only reason I would install this product is to help while my Lance camper is loaded and I am trailering my Jeep. If it's supposed to be turned off under these conditions, then of what use is it? I'm not interested in "smoking" the Fords and Chevys on Main St.

You should really consider getting guages. Then when you add power you can see if you need to do anything. I have an EZ on level 4 and so far I have seen 1151 pre-turbo temp.

I have not towed yet but have pulled some mountains. I'm running the EZ without the boost elbow for now.

The only mod I have done is a free flow muff with the stock exhaust. I plan to get a free flow air intake if the EGT's become too high.

Sorry, I should have included more info. I have the BD X-Monitor. If I installed the Edge EZ, I would be able to see the difference in EGT. I was just trying to avoid purchasing the Edge EZ and then finding out I had to do another $500 of mods to make it work "properly" (i. e. , not raise the EGTs to dangerous levels).

With the kind of load you are talking about you can get into EGT trouble stock if you are pulling in high altitude up some long grades. Or at least I could. The EZ will for sure put you into high EGT issues again if you pull in the mountains. The intake and exhaust system will help to lower your EGTs as will the boost elbow ( I did testing with the same load with and with out the elbow). I run with my EZ on lvl 4 and with a GCWR of about 16K I could make the run from KC to Moab with no EGT problems untill I got in the mountains and I just controled the EGTs with the throttle. I was still one of the fastest things going up the pass.

I did not get a boost elbow when I bought my Edge EZ... Was this supposed to be included?? Where I can get a boost elbow? Is Geno's muffler eliminator pipe the same thing???

I do not have guages yet & run my EZ on 3. I pull some fairly heavy loads but do not WOT. Steep grades just drop to 5th rather than honking on it. Did install AFE Mega Cannon & am putting on Pac Brake tomorrow. Next is 4" downpipe & free flow muff soon as more coin is in pocket.

The "Boost Elbow" should have come with the Edge EZ. It is used on the Turbo and not the exhaust pipe. The "elbow" is a 90 degree fitting with a very small "orifice" in it.

I would call Edge Products if you did not get one in the package. The only phone number I have is: 1-801-476-3343, as they have recently moved from their previous location.
