One for the auto-trans guys(not CTD)

I have a 1999 Taurus(the wifey's), lately when driving at highway speeds and you let off the accelerator, the seat of the pants feel of trans disengaging alongwith the visual RPM drop is missing. The RPMs drop a bit maybe 100-300 RPM and then slowly (real slow) unwind.

The service MGR just gave me a ring and said they can't duplicate the problem. Prior to marching in and being brainwashed that this is normal, I wanted to hear from you all.

Oh. . by the way this is not the first time I have had it in for this, the first time they fixed it.

My Mom had a 96 and it shifted the same way, it also some times would feel like it would slip real bad and then slam into gear. All Ford dealer would say was not a problem they all do it. Good luck, you might want to trade it in on a Honda or a Toyota :)

We have a 97 G Marquis, when you get off the acc. the rpms go to nothing immediately. Sounds like the torque converter is stayiing locked. There are three things that should unlock the TC, apply brake, lift off the acc. , accelerate hard under 65 mph, it should also be unlocked under 35 mph. bg
