I have a '05 CTD with a 6 speed, aFe air-intake, Banks' high ram and monster exhaust. My peak boost on my gauge that I can get to is 35lbs, then the waste gate opens. Pressure drops down to 25-30lbs. I was wondering how I can achieve more boost! My gauge goes to 60lbs, seems like a waste not to get more. Any advice would be helpful.

Welcome to the TDR! You need more fuel to get more boost. Any higher than about 32psi is at the top of the efficiency range of the stock turbo. Get guages or a box with guages and you'll be good to go.

The stock turbo has serious limitations. If you start upping the boost with the small stock turbo you are going to have EGT problems followed by premature turbo failure. The stock turbo was designed to keep smoke way down for emissions not to make gobs of power when a box dumps extra fuel in.

That said, there are tons of guys running boxes and almost no turbo failures so far.

What do yo want more boost for? More boost does not make more power. Unless your truck is heavily bombed or your EGT's are too high, leave the boost where it's at. Why overspin the turbo or create more cylinder pressure than you need to?

I've seen a huge difference in wastegate opperation with the Bully Dog Power Pup. Stock the boost would drop half it's boost when the w/g opened, Tow setting would drop it around 8-10 psi and Preformance drops it around 2-4psi. The boost climb time is much better keeping you at a nice level instead of waiting for it to reach 32psi again.

The changes have also taught me to drive by boost when farting around.

Gotta agree with these guys, In your sig you don't show that you are running a fueling box and with stock fueling 30-35 pounds is plenty. My 04. 5 and banks on level six will get right around 40lbs at w. t. o. That is enough to scare me with that little 'ol stock huffer.

If you really want to see 40+lbs of boost get a fueling box. But say bye-bye to the powertrain warranty. Otherwise be glad the newest ctd's make 30-35 stock. Only a few years ago stock trucks were happy to make 22-25lbs.

Hell with that warranty BOMB it!!! :D
